Baselworld 2014 enamel, porcelain and artistic dials

 

I am fascinated by enamel dials and painted dials of all sorts. Of course this collection of pictures cannot be complete but only represents a small but nice cross section of enamel and artistic dials at the Baselworld 2014.

 

The first stand enamel dials I saw this year were from a Chinese Company from Beijing. Their English brand name is KONCISE. 

 

 

Close up of the Chinese Enamel dial. Very nice work in my opinion, but then I am not the specialist, so I am curious to hear your comments. The hands look less good and their watches are not impressive, but the dials are.

Paul Gerber showed some wonderful Japanese porcelain dials, made in cooperation with the Japanese importer. Arita is a town where some of Japan’s most valued porcelain comes from and has a history of 400 years.

Another version of the Petite Heure Relief Saeson, in white gold. Hand-engraved and hand-painted white mother-of-pearl dial with a rhodium-plated, hand-engraved, hand-painted 18-carat red gold bird applique. White gold case set with  diamonds.

 

My favourite piece and of Jacquet Droz:  PETITE HEURE MINUTE PAILLONNEE. A dream and a piece of art.

Blue Grand Feu paillonné-enameled dial. 18-carat red gold case, diameter 43 mm. Limited to 8 pieces and sold out, but still available (probably) in white gold

Another brand which does very nice enamel dials since years is Vulcain. Cloisonn? enamel Pegasus in a 18K pink gold case, 42 mm  diameter, sapphire case-back revealing the stylised “V” for Vulcain in pink gold
