So, some guys met at the restaurant...

Jul 10, 2014,05:16 AM

.. the purpose was to celebrate (again) the new owner of Patek 5078R - but the watches which gathered there are worth sharing and they are not only Patek, so posting here on HoMe.

There were 5078P owner and new 5078R owner....

5078R

And the sound:

A bit slower - the newer MRs tend to be a bit louder and slower, some say.

5078P

And the sound:

Great sound....

And....

Oh, no.....  RM027, RM27-01

And another is taking pics of those four - and what is on his wrist?

Here you go - all star of the night...

... and one sideline cheerleader (mine) ... smile

Forgot to take pics of the food...

We only talked about watches and what a fun night....

HAGWE!

Ken

I will try to listen to your sound files when I am back home. To tell the truth, I can't wait to listen to the différences between the platinum and the rose gold. Thanks, Ken. Nicolas

Should have better recording equipment and sound room..

 By: KIH : July 10th, 2014-05:26
... to really enjoy the difference. But please I did my best..... Ken

Yikes!

Enjoying sashimi with a Patek minute repeater singing in the background. It doesn't get much better than that! I think the 5402 was an appropriate choice, Ken. The room needed some muscle with all that speed and elegance :)

A super muscle night... :-)

 By: KIH : July 10th, 2014-08:34
.. Thanks! I love 5402 and will hold on to it, hahaha! Ken

Holy moly!

Even the sideliner is superb. I love good food, but in that company I probably would forget to eat and to drink :-) Congrats to your friend who got the lattest one, it is an amazing piece and the RG works just perfect on that piece. Cordially, Oliver

True....

 By: KIH : July 10th, 2014-08:35
.. makes us wonder why they announced discontinuation of 78P and wonder whether 78R would be really short-lived? Who knows.. with that brand.... :-) Ken

post of the year????

 By: mjnoumoff : July 10th, 2014-08:00
wow...please allow me to catch my breathe....

Thanks!

 By: KIH : July 10th, 2014-08:38
Watches of the year, hahaha. They are all long timers and serious about watches.... None of them keep the watch "sealed" but let others handle and play with theirs. Thank you! Ken

excellent collectors

 By: mjnoumoff : July 10th, 2014-13:10
that love the watches and passion of collecting. is that also a 5016 I see on the owner's wrist????

Wow!

 By: bulliondesk : July 10th, 2014-08:00
I love the 5078 more and more every time I see one posted. Just so simple, clean and elegant. The perfect watch in my opinion.

Yup! I wish it would be available...

 By: KIH : July 10th, 2014-08:39
.. until when (and IF) I can acquire one..... sigh.... Ken

Fab 5!

 By: alphabeta81 : July 10th, 2014-08:30
Now that is a grail set of 5 if I have ever seen one, oh man! Thanks for sharing! And thanks to the owners for being so willing to share pictures and videos with the rest of us!

With two out of five..

 By: KIH : July 10th, 2014-08:39
.. I could retire from watch collecting.... :-) Ken

Thanks Ken for the post ...you must have...

 By: GLau : July 10th, 2014-09:21
... heard some lovely music !! Both the MR look amazing ! In Beijing I cannot click on the links for the music unfortunately. Which sounded better?? Cheers, Gordon

They are both wonderful...

 By: KIH : July 10th, 2014-11:01
.. can't tell which is "better". As with any individual MR piece, the sound is "different". Final approval by Phillip Stern or Thierry Stern, assembled by who, super small difference in the placement of each parts, small difference of the composite of the...

I can beat that, Ken

 By: alphabeta81 : July 10th, 2014-20:21
Give me ONE of those 5 and I will have that as my only piece for the rest of my life. Heck, I would wear the 5078P with shorts and a t shirt, no problem, and have it as my dress watch too!

Still very impressive

By: Mark in Paris : July 10th, 2014-13:11
and very happy you keep on getting these diners for sharing those pics on and on. Cheers, Mark

I am just at the right place at the right time ? :-)

 By: KIH : July 10th, 2014-16:18
it's always fun to see these pieces and friends who are willing to share them... Thanks! Ken

Am I seeing this right?

 By: estevezj777 : July 10th, 2014-13:56
Is my sight failing me or is that the word email at the lower part of the watch? Isn't it supposed to state something like: Swiss or Swiss made?

french

 By: mjnoumoff : July 11th, 2014-09:11
i believe "email" is french for 'Enamel"

You believe right. [nt]

 By: jrwong23 (aka watchthebin) : July 10th, 2014-14:24
The PP repeaters sound really nice! Thanks for the videos Ken! Your cheerleader watch is an eternal classic too! Very nice my friend Cheers Robin

Thanks Robin...

 By: KIH : July 10th, 2014-16:21
.. Yup! I am proud of it! Ken

those are nice watches. I will have to listen to both repeaters. Perhaps..

 By: Ronald Held : July 10th, 2014-14:42
At a PuristS GTG there needs to be audio recorders available just in case there are MRs?

Yeah, preferably, sound box in the sound proof room...

 By: KIH : July 10th, 2014-16:22
.... but, hey, it is just fun to play with it near your ears because they are both very nice, just a tiny bit different. Even the same 78Ps or 78Rs would be different. Ken

Just wish any one of them...

 By: KIH : July 10th, 2014-22:16
.. were mine.... duh! :-) Ken

When Japanese collectors meet, magic happens! :)

Amazing, Ken!... I was in Tokyo last week but travelling with families of 6 people altogether made it difficult to meet up with friends. I was their guide and translator haha Looking forward to travelling alone to have much more "free" time.

Yeah, please drop me a line..

 By: KIH : July 10th, 2014-22:17
... when you visit here. That goes to anyone here! Ken

Typical Tokyo...

 By: patrick_y : July 11th, 2014-10:00
Just kidding, still atypical, even for Tokyo. Thanks for sharing Ken! The food looks delicious.

I must confess...

 By: KIH : July 11th, 2014-20:17
