Watches and vacations.....a full Swiss immersion

I love vacation time. The opportunity to spend time and relaxation with my family. This year was special as my son had just finished A levels and so had no exams to work for, but rather just to look forward to starting university in October. So it was a celebration and relaxation vacation.

I also love vacations as they pose a question regarding what watches to take. This year, I opted for just two. The Rolex GMT "bruiser" and the Patek 5110G. So...two genuine travel watches. One for the evening and one for the spa! My son opted for the IWC 666 and the JLC Gran Sport Reverso. My wife stole my Explorer 1!

Here are some of the shots from the two weeks we spent in the Swiss alps.

This is one of my favourites....the way the 5110G catches the light is just wonderful to see. Such intricacy on the dial.

Who is that idiot next to Freddie?

There is blue....and then there is Rolex blue.

The 666 is not mine, but my son's watch. Superb light reflection on a superb watch.

One of the coolest JLC in my view....very sporty....very cool.

666 in the house.....no scratch there....just something on the plexi

The Trademark Nicolas shot!!

I found myself wearing the 5110G a lot...a lot more than i expected. The plan was to wear the 5110G for dinner.....it turned out to be on my wrist 80% of the time! I recently traded by 5110J for the G. For me this was a great trade. I have to admit to falling for the G in a way that the J never managed. In 2 years, I wore the J maybe 2 or 3 times. The G is a totally different feel....easier to wear day-to-day.

Last day of the vacation...farewell Switzerland.....farewell Gryon....farewell Doube Rouge until next year.....or maybe January!

I know your favorite picture is the first one ...
