Jaeger Lecoultre Duometre à Chronographe / Vacheron Malte Chronograph for Dubail.

Nov 21, 2014,15:17 PM

2 champions, in their category.

The Vacheron Malte Chrono for Dubail ( a Parisian Retailer ),

The Duometre à Chronographe,

Both have a white gold case, a black dial, and a manual movement.

If you ask me ( and you are, aren't you? wink  ), the JLC wins for its sophisticated movement, its conception and its finish, here.

If now you are paying attention to the case, I would say it is a tie game, as I love a ot the charm of the Vacheron, while I am very seduced by the class of the JLC.

In terms of coolness, a light advantage to the Vacheron, with its red accents.

The best solution would be to get both... As always.  wink

What do you think?

Best, Nicolas

Own one, want the other

Nicolas, a great little duo post. Great shots as always. Each has its charm. The last time you posted about the VC I contacted the Parisian dealer. I fell off my chair with the price. So, I enjoy my JLC! I really love the movement on the JlC. It is visual...

Agree on all.

At the same price, I would definitely go for the JLC. And I will probably first go for the JLC. But I can't resist to these red touches, this small detail which I didn't like at first sight! Best, my friend. Nicolas

Well...

...if I did not already own (and love) this one, I would do some bad things to get that special Malte Chronographe. But the color scheme is very similar, and my resources too limited to go for the Malte. The Malte is much more refined than the Overseas an...

Well, the case size is very close, in both case.

There is a difference of what? Half a millimeter, one millimeter. And in the real, it seems that they have the same size. Now, the design of the case is hugely different, yes. Like you, I love the Lemania movement a lot. And the shape of the Malte Chrono ...

Tough decision

The combination black-red of Vacheron's dial is deadly. On the other hand JLC movement is fantastic. In an ideal world you should own both of them... Constantin

I love them both but the JLC wins it for style, class

and just general quality of movement and design. VC's case and lugs are a little better but it is not enough to win. JLC in this case if I have to choose. Stewart

Horologically speaking, there is no match, indeed.

When you look at the movement, the JLC wins, at least in my opinion and heart. And the JLC is such a long and strong love that I will probably get one, one day. But I must say that this VC is a charming outsider. Best, Stewart. Nicolas

For movement and innovative design, duometre is in different league.

Yes, that VC is beautiful, the color combo great, the case and lugs are wonderful, but does it bring anything new to the table? I think there are other vintage chronos out there with just as much beauty, and they did it first. And the duo has the 1/6 subd...

It is quite a big case, which I felt comfortable on my wrist with the pin buckle

 By: amanico : November 22nd, 2014-15:29
Much less comfortable with the double folding buckle, I must say. The Vacheron was not more comfortable on my wrist. I owned both, the Vacheron in white gold, the Duometre in platinum. Best, Nicolas

Guess, I 'll have to pass here.. As the VC is way beyond my ceiling.. Could only be the JLC

But BTW: IF a Duométre, I suppose, I still might try for the Duométre à QL, which, however, was not the question & choice raised here.. - IF it has to be a Chrono, also then the JLC-Duo à Chrono: Why ? - Innovation, Foudroyante, Layout, etc ( as mentioned...

Thanks for your feedback, my friend.

If only one, then, for me, too, the JLC Duometre à Chrono.... Best, Nicolas

Hands down the JLC Duometre.

You don't show us the movement of the Vacheron but knowing the beauty and uniqueness of the JLC I would have to say the VC would have to go a long way to match the technology, the uniqueness and the finishing of the JLC. The dial layout, again the JLC win...

Well, I think we are 100 % on the same page, my dear Mitch.

The fact that the time was on the left subdial didn't bother me at all, but I can understand it bothers some. For the rest, we totally agree. Best, and thanks for your feedback! Nicolas

Two stunning watches!

And you know the obvious Blomman awnser (if money would be no issue)....... ;) It was great to see you again! Best Blomman

Thank you, my friend. I know, I know... ;)

It was a great pleasure to see you here. All the best, Nicolas

It is a little surprising...

 By: pplater : November 25th, 2014-06:40
...that the VC is considered expensive, and more so than the JLC. The 'regular' Malte chrono is such a wonderful, low key, elegant piece. This boutique version takes it to a different place - the sporty look - but not in a way which is unacceptable. As it...
