Good things can still come in small packages.....

Feb 28, 2015,13:47 PM

My new "neo-vintage" Blancpain 7002 (Wempe edition) and Omega 30T2rg hanging out with each other.

The Blancpain is between 36 and 37mm across the dial, while the Omega is closer to 33.5mm across the dial.  While my eyes have been trained to look for something larger on the wrist, I think these 2 work quite well just the way there are.

Of course, there's more to timepieces than outward looks.  What's inside counts quite a bit as well....

The 7002 is certainly one of Blancpain's game efforts on this front.

And this movement needs no introduction.

Quite happy with this scaled-down dynamic duo.

Anyone else care to share some of your smaller timepieces that still manage to impress?

Darren

Longines Marine Nationale. Bravo, Darren. This Blancpain is a great catch. The movement is tip top. Best, Nicolas ...

Wow, that's not one I see very often...

and certainly not with such amazing patina. I agree it looks perfect at that size. Darren

That Blancpain is a special piece. I love it, and the size is just right IMO.

And Aminco's Longines is super cool. Chris

Lovely pair!

Luckily, I have small wrists, so smallish works fine. I have a few, but here's one of my favorites (and smallest, at 32mm): ...

My eyes are used to wearing larger watches

but somehow these two still "fit" A kissing cousin at 36mm. And the one that I'm wearing tonight 34mm, totally looks OK. Cheers, Mike ...

Both great watches, but I'd like to see more of the one on the bottom....

Not one we see too much around these parts (or any parts for that matter). Would love to see some close-ups of the front and back. Darren

Here you go Darren

Hey, another Blancpain 7002@

 By: Darren : March 1st, 2015-12:05
Like the black dial quite a bit. And the Jutzi has always been on my list. That and the V. Halter were my 2 favorites from the Goldpfeil project years ago. Thanks for sharing these. Darren

Small watch - Great stile!

Other than popular opinion suggests, small watches can have great wrist presence. My Piaget is at 35mm not a big watch, but with the salmon dial and overall clean lines it's beauty of a very special kind. The platinum case makes for a breathtaking contras...

Love those unknown gems.....

I too have never seen this one, but I agree with everything you suggest in your post. The dial and bezel make it appear larger, and the movement looks like a work of art. Thanks for sharing a new one. Darren

Hi Darren, I, too, love those. I owned 7002 (had to let go for financial reason), but still own TWO 30T2RG (center second and small second). Very nice indeed. The dial of yours is superb! Ken ...

These are 2 wonderful examples.

Nomos, when they were still small.

 By: SteveW : March 1st, 2015-00:43
It's the older Nomos Orion model from the early 2000's at a little more than 34mm. Coincidentally, with the same base movement as the Blancpain but not developed to the extent they would put a display back on the watch. Something about the cream dial make...

What a looker....

I haven't seen this Nomos before. Looks just about perfect. The color of the markers is rather pleasing to the eye. Darren

 By: Darren : March 1st, 2015-12:13
The Goldfpeil Vianney Halter is a modern day classic - one of my favorites. The Jutzi with his name on the dial is, I would imagine, quite rare. (and the watch is nothing to sneeze at either) The Beba is another classic, although we would need to see the ...

It makes my heart happy to see the 7002 Wempe end up in the collection of a true Purist and enthusiast. And it was a nice surprise to see my pictures of it be used by you, I found that flattering! Lovely Omega as well!
