What a great post!

It's nice to have folks like you join our virtual "BBQ" (I always liken PPro to a cocktail party, but I am always up for a good BBQ too!)!

I hope you continue to enjoy your watches and this community!

Cheers,
Daos

What's So Special About PuristSPro?

 By: pingtsai : March 19th, 2015-00:39
You might not already know this but the single most distinguishing factor about is quite simply, “YOU”. Yes you the hopelessly hooked and wondrously devoted watch enthusiasts who admirably pour out your passion for all the virtual world to hear. You are ...

Oh my!!!

Looks like I don't belong here :) Jokes aside you made brilliant post (again) dear Ping that made me blush Thank you for making us all feel good Best Damjan

Why I came, and why I stayed

 By: matthewking : March 19th, 2015-01:50
Hello Friends, I'm relatively new to the wonderful world of watches, having started to take focused interest only several years ago. As anyone new to a hobby and wanting to learn more, I turned to online resources. I registered with several of the bigger ...

Wow you summed it up perfectly Matt

 By: AnthonyTsai : March 19th, 2015-16:59
It's always great to read posts like yours because what you've written is what the PuristSPro team and its directors are trying to accomplish. As the General Manager here, I can say we do struggle at times asking ourselves, "Are what we're trying to accom...

Very glad to hear your feedback Matt!

I fully agree with the BBQ feeling. This is exactly how I feel too and what brought me to PPro and what made me stay and share here Cheers Robin

What a great post!

Yup, you said it perfectly Matt!

 By: pingtsai : March 21st, 2015-07:58
Thank you Matt for your comments. I wanted readers to know that yes the site is entirely made up of watch owners, collectors and enthusiasts. And the content too. Thanks for saying it. :)

Well said.

 By: KCLQMULKU : March 29th, 2015-06:02
You have actually highlighted my exact same thoughts. Well said! I just enjoy watches, of any type. The look, the mechanics, the history, and the art. To me a timepiece has to have a certain quality, irrespective of the complication, metal, or price tag. ...

Fully agree Ping!

Those are the reasons why I visited this forum, participated and stayed on! Yes there are many nice social platforms out there where I can enjoy quick pics (Instagram), see some quick posts (Facebook), read some blogs, etc but here, I have all of that PLU...

Yup Robin, it's not easy...

...to find a place that feels like home. Glad you have connected with many here :)

What's so special??? But PPRO is like a Grand Restaurant, my dear.

 By: amanico : March 19th, 2015-08:23
There are not that many places when you can get refined food, deliciously educated guests with so much knoweldge, a nice environment, and so many friends. PPRO is all about that. Interesting watches, not necessarily only the most expensive, Passion, Educa...

unease

 By: ztirual : March 19th, 2015-09:45
Dear Pingstai I know of people you spend time and energy sharing that very same passion on less popular, non-commercial horological fora. They are not purists and they probably fall short of all those qualities and levels of virtue described in your post....

Quick clarification

 By: pingtsai : March 19th, 2015-10:51
Hi ztirual, Thank you for your comment. I don't fully understand what you mean but the people you mention that you know who share the same passion, to me, they are purists too. I should have included this in my post but I don't limit purists to only peopl...

Its not a competition amongst the religious

 By: MTF : March 28th, 2015-02:55
ztirual We get Passionates everywhere like we get religious people all over the world. If the Intent is virtuous, they are all Accepted. Intent is the key to all our interactions. A good man who travels on a different road is still a good man. Thus, puris...

Err, guilty as charged, a bit weird...

 By: Tim Jackson : March 22nd, 2015-01:50
I think my family is used to it by now, but passers by still think me weird, snapping pics with a watch in it, trying to include some fun or interesting background for the WirstScan forum I enjoy so much! Cheers, Tim

Weird - it takes one to know one

 By: cazalea : March 23rd, 2015-14:02
no accusation intended Tim, we are birds of a feather who flock together, as they say. It was just a great shot of you. Most of us are busy taking the pictures, not being caught in the act of doing so. Cheers Mike

I'm here for just about everything you've listed down

For me, the main reason is that I'm allowed to talk about what I love, watches, and ask questions regarding them, and not have someone tell me that I should go back to school to learn more before coming back, and folks listening to my banter, however sens...

I like how...

 By: pingtsai : March 21st, 2015-13:48
...it can be so personal and what each person gets out of it can be different. It's good that you want to say more than just "that's a nice watch". There's nothing wrong with that but why not dig deeper right? Thanks Richard!

Beautiful sentiments.

This is a special corner of the web, indeed. I think the two things that distinguish this place most are that the moderators are folks who don't tell you what to think about a watch, but provide you with in-depth information, so that you can find your own...
