Don't be fooled by the wrist shots of the Grand Chronographe Regulateur

I got a few emails asking:  "Is the watch really that big on the wrist?" after they saw Robert's recent photo.

I think a few PuristS would also agree that 47mm is too large.

But at the recent Beverly Hills event, I tried the watch on...

I guess it depends on your tastes, but I was very pleasantly surprised. (Perhaps it is because I really like Jaquet Droz and there are some size and design similarities shared between these two brands...J*D fans see if you can point out the similarities on the profile shot above smile )

Now since its release at SIHH 2009, some of the regular production pieces are finally at the boutiques.

Remember when the 16.30 caliber first came out?

Here is the preproduction sample.

Here is the sale model.

Notice the difference in finishing?  Here are a few macros to help.

Really, MB has packed every useful complication in this watch.  Dual time, night/day display, a chronograph, and a power reserve indicator...I guess the only thing missing, for some people, would be a date display.

The coolest feature, one which would make even non watch enthusiasts oohh and ahhh is the oversized power reserve indicator with the dual hand display.

When 12 hours are left the red hand detaches from underneath its larger sister and marks down the last few hours.

Here it is in action.  Notice that it take only about 30+ revolutions of the crown to completely wind the mainspring and generate 55 hours of running time.   Listen to the smooth winding sound and the ease of winding.

Montblanc will only produce 19 examples of this watch.  8 in rose gold, 8 in white gold and 3 in unique platinum pieces.

To think that the Montblanc BH boutique had 2 samples of this watch....that's 10% of the complete production series...for us to examine is pretty impressive.

You have to try it on to believe what I am saying.  Don't miss the opportunity if the Montblanc Villeret road show travels to a dealer near you.

Cheers, Mike

47mm does look good on a small wrist IMO

My wrist is 6.75" and below is a wrist shot of the 47mm Montblanc Villeret case and a comparison picture with the 42mm PuristSPro All-Black Rescue watch. Once you size the leather strap to your wrist so it's a snug fit, the 47mm case is no longer intimida...

These Montblancs are getting só nice

Every year their collection grows and grows in terms of design and craftsmanship. The Minerva move was a very wise step. Thanks for this picture Anthony, it gives a very good idea. GEO
