No Repetition With This New Addition

As most here are well aware, I LOVE complicated watches, even if they are largely superfluous.  My two favorite superfluous complications are the tourbillion and the minute repeater.  I satisfied my itch for a tourbillion a couple of months ago, but I still yearned for a minute repeater.  However, as with my tourbillion, I did not want just any repeater.  Rather, I wanted something truly special and distinctive.  Thus, even when certain interesting repeaters were available, I held out and waited patiently.

A few years ago, JLC decided to, in its own words, “reinvent” the minute repeater and create something “exceptional on all levels.”  JLC undertook a comprehensive two year project, involving many different participants, to improve upon existing minute repeaters and create something truly special.  JLC scrutinized every aspect of repeater technology, from the hammers to the gongs to the case design to the power delivery system.  JLC created an entirely new movement, the Calibre 947, that incorporates patented crystal gongs and a whooping 412 moving parts.  The following is an interesting article regarding JLC’s repeater project:

In honor of its 175th anniversary, JLC created a limited edition (175 pieces) rose gold watch housing the state-of-the art Calibre 947.  In contrast to the original Master Minute Repeater (a 200 unit run in platinum), which has a cut-out dial, the rose gold anniversary model is completely transparent, thereby adding a tremendous visual experience to the melodic tones of the crystal chimes.

Last year, I saw a photograph of the Jaeger LeCoultre Master Minute Repeater Antoine LeCoultre Anniversary Edition (Collection 1833) and it absolutely captivated me.  It is extraordinary in design . . . completely unique . . . balanced, fluid and gorgeous beyond words!!!  Yesterday, I was fortunate enough to acquire one of these exceptional watches.  I immediately strapped it to my wrist and I could not take my eyes off of it all day long.  It was a euphoric experience!  I am beyond thrilled with this piece!!!

Here is Jaeger’s photo of the watch:
