Mexico City SIAR watch exhibition: A MUST ATTEND for all watch enthusiasts!

Sep 29, 2010,00:12 AM

Salon Internacional Alta Relojeria - SIAR

I'd heard about SIAR for a few years now, and always in a good light.

In fact, PuristS friend Max Busser and Stephen Hallock have participated for 3 of

the past 4 years (including this one) and have always spoken very highly of the

exhibition, it's sponsors (Tiempo y Reloj, a highly regarded local specialist

magazine, and of course, founder of the exhibition and publisher of the magazine,

Mr. Carlos Alonso) and visitors.

Well, this year I committed to coming to see for myself. Afterall, any market that

has such extremes as "What? Mexico? but it's a 4th world country..." versus "It's

one of the fastest growing markets in our territory!" always piques my interest.

More later (it was the opening day today, and it's now 2a local time; most of my

friends are still at a happening party sponsored by Revolution Magazine, Mexico Edition) but for now, some quick

"snap shots" -

Held at the magnificent Four Seasons Mexico City -

37 brands exhibiting!  including powerhouses and old PuristS' friends

Audemars Piguet

The always dapper Hugo modeling a very special Pride of Mexico...

a true MASTER Master watchmaker (someone I would trust with my repeaters and grand complications and Grand Sonneries) demonstrating how he "tunes" a repeater gong

Greubel Forsey

MB&F
Mont Blanc
Harry Winston
Cartier
Bulgari
Piaget
Richard Mille

And a host of others.

13 international CEO's and master watchmakers in attendance.

If you love watches, you will not want to miss this.

Through Thursday, Four Seasons Mexico City
