PuristS and MB&F announce the PuristS 10th Chocolate Frog watch
The PuristS’ family of horology and luxury websites (ThePuristS.com and PuristSPro.com) is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2011, with a gathering of PuristS, friends, watchmakers and sponsors.  A number of watchmakers and brands will be issuing limited edition or piece unique watches to commemorate a decade of PuristS independence on the horological scene.

“It is apt that the first PuristS 10th watch to be announced is the Chocolate Frog from MB&F ,” said Dr Melvyn Teillol-Foo (PuristSPro CEO), continuing: “Max has been a Friend and supporter since the early days of ThePuristS.com . From the beginning, PuristS have brought independent watchmaking to popular notice and we are glad to see MB&F grow into one of the most creative Horological Labs”.

International Gathering of the Tribe 2 (IGOTT-2), LAS VEGAS, 30 May to 02 June 2011
This is a unique event bringing together members of the PuristS community from across the world.  The 2nd IGOTT event is where watch collectors, enthusiasts and buyers gather to share in the passion of high horology.  The event will take place in Las Vegas 30 May - 2 June 2011, uniting global members of the PuristS community with a series of seminars, gala dinners and watch novelty presentations.

The last PuristS gathering had great success in Singapore (2004).  With strong demand from the community for a repeat, Las Vegas is the IGOTT-2 destination for its world class facilities and easy access for our guests coming from around the world.

PuristS 10th Chocolate Frog
The PuristS 10th Chocolate Frog watch is a limited edition of 10 pieces encased in ‘yummy’ chocolate PVD-coated Grade 5 titanium with an engraved red gold rotor.

Max Büsser declared, “We will never do another chocolate titanium Frog after this! We conceived this very special piece, specifically to honour PuristS support for ‘the little guy’.   The support of PuristS over the years for Independent Horology has been instrumental in the growth of the new wave of independent, creative watchmaking.  Without PuristS, companies like MB&F could not exist.  We are extremely pleased to be able to join them in celebrating their 10th Anniversary."

Priority for PuristS
PuristS 10th Chocolate Frog orders are exclusive through PuristSPro .  The watch will be presented by Max Büsser at IGOTT-2 on 30th May 2011. IGOTT attendees will get priority to acquire a Chocolate Frog before the offering to PuristS around the world at USD 79,000 . Deliveries will start in March 2011 for those unable to attend IGOTT-2 or those who wish to satisfy their Chocolate craving early.  To accommodate the high demand for the Chocolate Frog, please send your order requests to this email:   PuristS10th @ puristspro . com (remove the spaces)

What’s with the Frogs?

The MB&F HM3-based Frogs enable the time to be easily seen from many angles without having to turn the wrist. The Frog has aluminium domes that rotate under the sapphire crystals. Rotating domes of this size and shape posed MB&F with a number of technical challenges. The hour and minute domes are machined from solid aluminium - chosen for its optimal strength to weight ratio. The domes weigh in at just over 0.5g. They are milled first from the outside and then the inside to arrive at a paper-thin wall thickness of just 0.28 mm, which reduces their energy requirements to an absolute minimum.

The fabrication of hemispherical sapphire crystal domes to be perfectly uniform was incredibly demanding and only recently possible. Any slight imperfection in the sapphire might introduce a disconcerting magnification effect.

The Frog's unusual method of indicating time required the development of a new gear train for the HM3 engine. The Frog hour dome rotates in 12 hours compared to the 24 hour revolution of the original HM3 hour hand. As the oversized date wheel is driven from the hours, the gearing driving the date had to be reworked.

It is the meticulous attention to detail and care regarding the fine hand-finishing of the movement within its lightweight high-tech titanium case that attracted PuristS to this design.

Chocolate Frog – Specifications – USD 92,000 now.  Price INCREASE on 1st September 2011 to USD 98,500.

About MB&F
Two decades of experience in haute horlogerie led Maximilian Büsser to realise that the projects which gave him the most vitality and pleasure were those working with talented independent watchmakers on exciting concept watch projects. MB&F is not a watch brand, it is an artistic and micro-engineering concept laboratory in which changing collectives of independent horological professionals are assembled each year to design and craft radical Horological Machines.
