"You Jump, I Jump" : Perpetually PuristS 2009, Singapore

28 February 2009, 9:30pm

The day of "You Jump, I Jump" is here again.  Would you be jumping with us? smile

Over here in Singapore, it was raining cats and dogs.
We wonder how many would brave the rain to attend the 'fellowship of the jump'.

While we wait for the first to arrive ....

A glimpse of the venue.... Keppel Island (located off the main island) ...

Connected by a 250m bridge ...

The marina....

The quiet wet walk-way ...

Walking to the bar .... seemed to be drizzling...

Our original venue, outside of the bar...

Arrived at our meeting place ....Prive.

Our new ground.  Indoor.

With a special bright lamp to view tonight's JUMPERs  smile

Ordered a cool Mojito ...and wait for the first soul.

A view just outside our original beautiful outdoor venue.

A few pic of one of the early Jumpers while waiting ....

PPro ABR with the Ulysse Nardin +/- GMT Perpetual Rose Gold  LE

Another pose ...

At last, our friends arrived ...

All smiles ...

Oh!  A lady member stripped down a PPro ABR.  Hey!  It's water-resistance but not FIRE!

* The venue was illuminated with candles...so it was dim.  Flash was used to take the pictures so everything looked bright smile

She is good, assembled the the ABR with no sweat!

A wristshot of some of the star JUMPERs ...

Some closer shots of the Stars ....

Breguet Classique Perpetual Calendar Tourbillon #3757

Simply stunning!

Gerald Genta Perpetual Calendar with Moonphase Automatic Yellow Gold with the Ulysse Nardin +/- GMT Perpetual Rose Gold LE

Closer look at the nice UN ...

Wait a minute ... a novel way to view a watch!  With a Light Up Lip Gloss!

Seiko Perpetual Calendar

It glowed like mad!

Another star, the Patek Philippe 5059

A glimpse with the half-hunter case open...

A RUNNER instead of a JUMPER ... Patek 5070

Interruption .... Time Check 11:45pm ....

Crossing over ...

Hey... a L.U.C Lunar One just joined us!

The date has transitioned ... the rest - day, month to come...

A couple of snacks to ease the JUMP-OVER ...

Another Update ....

Month & date seemed to have crossed over ...

Day started to shift ....

Date & month in transition

Only date shifted... the rest should jump at one time ... or not?

Piaget Coussin Perpetual Calendar Dual Time Zone Automatic has completed the jump.

GG has completed too.

Seiko still pending ...

A short break ... a couple of wristshots ....

For sure it's not my wrist/s smile

Back to viewing again ...

L.U.C Lunar One still intact ...

UN touched down.

Approaching midnight  soon  ....the remaining three, staying or Jumping over?

Not crossed yet!

I heard a roar! ....

The L.U.C - month, day and date jumped at the same instance.  Marvellous!!

For the ultimate TWO ....

Oh! we missed the Seiko... immediate jump from '28 to 1'.

12:08 am .... waiting for the retrogrades to swing!!

12:12           Day changed.

12:18

12:20  Breguet crossed over!

The retrograde returned from right side to left.

12:21 ...

12:22 ....

12:26 Alas, crossed over!

The date retrograde did not swing back from right to left (anti-clockwise).... it swept from '31'  to '1'  through the clockwise arc!

Annual Calender Patek 5135 crossed nicely too.

For those who braved the rain, thank you for making the effort and wearing some great pieces to show us.

It takes a little while to shift all the indicators but remember this is the only perpetual calendar that can be adjusted backwards and forwards across International Date Line and does NOT need adjustment by a watchmaker in 2100 A.D., although most of us will not be around to check on this claim!  smile

Almost never happened in these hard times....PURISTS read on

By: MTF (registered) Sunday, March 1st, 2009

We considered cancelling the Perpetually PuristS events in HKG and Singapore.

The recession has hit pretty hard and the moderators in both cities had other engagements that night.

Rod Stewart's clashing '1-Nite Only' concert in Singapore did not help matters.

But someone said that in times of strive, when the going gets tough  -  the tough get going.

PuristS have to be a shining beacon of Hope....perpetually.   So, we hauled arse ('ass' for the Americans) to get things happening.

Thanks to all who took part in one of the loudest thunderstorms for years in these parts.

Thanks to those who rushed over from Mr Stewart's 'Hot Legs' to join us before midnight.

Thanks to those who attended but had to rush away for the kids and beauty sleep.  I think that havng to wake up early to go to church is a perfectly valid reason NOT to wait for the PP5059 to jump!  smile

Finally, thanks to Michel Lu of Prive and his staff for squeezing us in at short notice

Regards,

MTF

smile

MTF

PS. It was nice to look at but we had to stare a long time after midnight for the jump.  Luckily, that was enough time to admre all the pretty bits!

Looks like Singapore PP '09 was fantastic!

Wow the L.U.C Lunar One is the star of the night!  I thought I hear a faint roar coming from Singapore over here in LA when the Lunar One instantaneously jumped to March 1st smile

Btw, the PuristSPro ABR below doesn't have the orange red hand as one of the hands on the 4-handed secs hand - must be one of the early prototypes?

Cheers,
Anthony

Good catch ...

Chopard PIAGET and UN

By: MTF (registered) Sunday, March 1st, 2009

pretty much covers my favourites too!

I wish the Chopard Lunar One had roman numerals and the Piaget Coussin did NOT have a blue dial but the UN was perfect.....er.....I'm biased smile

MTF

Surprised you could still take such sharp photos after the drinks

Ha! A few said...those were ...

By: Kong (registered) Sunday, March 1st, 2009

non-masculine drinks smile

What kind of non-masculine drinks do you like?

By: AnthonyTsai (registered) Sunday, March 1st, 2009

I myself love drinking Sour Apple Martini's which is a little non-masculine.  As long as you don't order a drink such as a "Princess's Punch" or "Pink Squirrel", you're fine smile

Cheers,
Anthony

Correction: we said they were girly drinks

By: MTF (registered) Monday, March 2nd, 2009

Some looked like girly-man drinks and some actually tasted like girly-man drinks despite names like "Dirty Sanchez" !

smile

Looks like a cosy time you all had!

By: zephyr49 (registered) Sunday, March 1st, 2009

Like the PP 5135 AC and the Piaget PC! The unique case shapes are very attractive to me. Saw so many familiar faces, wish I could have made it but alas.....

Thanks for the pics Melvin and Kong.

Cheers!
Lionel

Great Pictures...

Kong,

Once again, thanks for organizing the night. Sorry had to run before midnight :-P

You missed the almost instant LUC jump at midnight

By: MTF (registered) Sunday, March 1st, 2009

of the Chopard Lunar One.

We had an ex-moderator and current moderator of Chopard forum present so it was under pressure to perform!

Thanks to the proud owner for sharing with us the 1st Lunar One apperance at a Perpetually PuristS GTG in Singapore.

smile
