Breguets silent movement upgrades...

Sep 10, 2010,08:45 AM

Today I heard from a usually very well informed AD the following.

Since some time Breguet is improving their movements in two ways: 1) replacing parts with silicon substitutes and 2) rasing the beat per hour.
Further, they slowly upgrade movements in dealers stocks. The targeted results: 1) higher accuracy, 2) higher reliability and 3) lower service interval.
Strangely, this all takes sems to take place almost silently, without campaigning.

This story surprised me very much, to say the least.
Up until now I knew that there were 'only' three Breguet watches with silicon parts and a fourth underway (type XXII, which also has a higher beat).

What is going on? Does anybody have additional information to share?

I had the plan to buy a new watch this month, but if all this is really true, then it will be terribly exciting and I will rearrange my shortlist and put a Breguet at the top.

Yes, the upgrades are a reality. Thees models should all be out by fall 2010 at the dealers so they are worth waiting for. Silicon balances and higher beating rate are big improvements...

Hi BBV. Great news, is it not?

Do you happen to know wich models are involved with the upgrade program? Something else. I see you are from India. I think it is mostly rather hot out there, right? I have heard about special Breguet straps for tropical use for dress watches; leather outs...

Thanks for the info... ::))
