Mine should be here shortly...

Hopefully mine will be delivered in the next few days.

It's great to see something that is really new on the watchmaking scene.  It will certainly make checking the time in business meetings a lot less conspicuous!

First deliveries of a new watch from an exciting new company

 By: Spellbound : December 10th, 2013-00:04
A few months ago I told you about an exciting new project that was raising funds through Kickstarter. The project was a watch for the visually impaired, inspired and named after Lt. Brad Snyder, a heroic bomb disposal operator who unfortunately lost his s...

This is a unique watch...

...that broke visual barrier to those impaired and brought them joy of watches.

Totally agree.

 By: Spellbound : December 10th, 2013-01:17
Love the idea. And love that just a few new graduates came together and in a couple of years developed and built a new company with a new idea that improves life for many. They achieved more in a few years than most do in a lifetime. Congratulations to th...

Superb post, great gesture. Tell me one thing.

There is only one ball bearing for the hour? Not for the minutes? Did I get it well? Best, Nicolas

Good question

 By: Spellbound : December 10th, 2013-01:14
Sorry my pictures did not capture properly the two ball bearings. The one on the dial marks the minutes, and the one on the side marks the hours. It is fun to change the time, just like a normal watch using the crown, and the balls move accordingly. You c...

I like the thought and the watch. Congrats! Oliver

Did I hear it correctly - magnet ?

 By: ling5hk : December 10th, 2013-01:24
If magnet is used, I would appreciate if you could tell us how does it work and at the same time, the magnet will not affect the accuracy of the watch. Regards Ling

Good question ...

Do visit the Eone Time website for answers. There is also a link to an excellent article on how the idea was formulated, the development process, and how they overcame the problems. Dean

Interesting design. I will have to go to the website and maybe buy one...

Why can't I see the minutes ball in the photos?

The minute ball is on the dial

 By: Spellbound : December 10th, 2013-05:56
The hour ball is on the side of the watch. In the picture it is 2:08 It seems counterintuitive to do it this way, but they conducted study groups and apparently did it this way since most people look at the minute hand first since they have a good idea of...

Oh I understand now. (nt)

Just awesome!

Great idea and “the display” is also good looking. I like this type of display. Incidentally, and in some way, it reminds me of the display behind the VC cabinotier watch “Philosophia” - with only one hand. Good on you to give the watch away. Best, Stan ...

Actually...

 By: Spellbound : December 10th, 2013-01:28
Actually I was surprised to read that this concept dates back to the early 1800's when a pocket watch was developed with a large hand that could be felt. Initally not intended for the visually impaired, but more for having the discreet ability to tell the...

Still waiting for mine. Hopefully Australia is next on the list

I love your kind gesture but I am keeping mine Julian

Coming soon

I am sure yours will arrive soon. These guys are super efficient at keeping to their deadlines. Remarkable what they achieved in such a short time. I must say I am tempted to keep mine, but am really looking forward paying it forward. Looking forward to y...

It's finally here!

Thanks for sharing! I was rather impressed when you showed us their kickstarter campaign, now it's good to see the first deliveries of the product! Looks great!

Thanks...

It is actually remarkable how many watches are being launched via Kickstarter. Earlier this year we had the world's thinnest watch from a US company, at 0.8mm thin. Funding for this one also blew past their target, reaching a cool $1m. Dean

Mine should be here shortly...

Which strap did you go for? Dean

Paying it forward

 By: Spellbound : December 14th, 2013-22:15
As mentioned, I got this watch with the intention of giving it to the first visually impaired person I came across in Shanghai. Unfortunately after wondering the streets in search of someone, I resorted to driving the streets in search of a massage parlor...

Thanks my friend

I have been selfish all these years. A little gesture like this feels good. Dean
