By: aldossari_faisal : March 24th, 2010-17:10
okay fellas , am sharing a thought I've held for a while now, i believe if pilot watches breed like humans or living creatures then the normal evolution of it would be the BIG PILOT BY IWC. i would say its the non genetically touched pilot watch, i do lik...

exactly Nicolas , but what if we considered the evolution factor? . Thanks Faisal
Evolution factor?

The choice between a manual and an automatic movement, a sapphire or a solid case back. But, with these Pilot Watches, I stay convinced that the closer to the original, the better for the tribute. Best, Nicolas
So here we are wanting a contemporary version
By: SteveG : March 25th, 2010-04:38
of an historic aviator watch, by IWC? The two on the ends are the prototypes: Mark 11 to the left, B-uhr to the right. Your Big Pilot obviously addresses the latter, even if it is significantly smaller than 55mm across. Fortunately IWC continued to produc...

Everything I like in a vintage pilot's watch - including the coin-edge bezel.

By: chronomtr : March 26th, 2010-03:40
the marker on the rotating bezel, onion shaped crown ... thanks
Muhahhahaa!!! Loved that ...

At least it is the only pilot watch offering the APU's turbine integrated into the dial. Regards, Marcus

Flieger Original for purity: - clean, no logo dial with original fonts updated to a slightly modern look - very good lume (every minute mark as well as the numbers and all hands) - onion crown - handwound pocketwatch movement with re-routed indirect cente...
i overlooked this one....
By: aldossari_faisal : March 26th, 2010-01:12
because its long gone, and its very hard to find , although its perfectly the identical pilot watch . Faisal
Agreed, Tom...This is a great alternative.

I love this pure look, and the effort to go very close to the original. A Myth doesn't suffer any compromise, to my point of view. Best, Nicolas
"A myth doesn't suffer any compromise..."

THAT is a very true statement, and the primary reason one has to be careful in acquiring pieces that will last in the collection. Better to wait, and wonder, than to give in quickly and regret for a long time.... Nicely stated!
You're too kind...
By: amanico : March 26th, 2010-06:23
I was a bit afraid that it sounded a bit stupid in English... Best, Nicolas
IMHO, the Big Pilot is a dead end of the evolution ....
By: Marcus Hanke : March 26th, 2010-02:59
... since its size makes it compete with the established dashboard time displays. It is simply too large to offer any comfort, and like the brontosaurus will not be the right strategy to survive the next ten million years or so ... Regards, Marcus
