Hi All it's my first thread on the site and I wanted to start a watch collection. I only have two watches on the time being:roles submariner and a hublot ice bang 44 mm,I feel that I am lost and don't know how to start. Sometimes I think about buying an A...

We all knew that ( and sometimes still know that ).

There are some lines, such as complications ( one per brand ), or themas ( Chronos, Chronometers, GMTs, Minute Repeaters, Alarms, and so on ), or one brand ( all the watchesz of a brand ). There is another line: Buy what you like. In any case, take your t...

Starting is the easiest part!

It's knowing when to stop that's the hardest! Like Amanico says, take your time and don't rush into it.

Stop?

Find what you love...

I really cannot add much to what has already been said, my real advice is to buy the watches you love. Unless you are looking at this as a type of investment where they will be locked in the safe never to see the light of day or be put on the wrist (sad l...

Collecting is a journey. You are thinking about the right things. It won't happen overnight, and you will enjoy it more as you research and experience your interests. I fall into the "buy what you like" camp, and wear every watch I own.

The only advice I can give you: take your time!

Read, learn, listen to your heat, define what would be the most appropriate topic of the collection. You feel lost? We all feel lost and we will always feel lost so don't worry about this ! Fx

you seems long on sports watches...

I am a firm believer in diversification...do you see yourself sporting a gentlemen"s watch on your wrist? a Lange or Patek or VC perhaps? i can only add to the body of wisdom already rendered here... 1)take your time.. 2) dont listen to the sales represen...

It's true

 By: beejo : November 1st, 2011-11:59
I am casually dressed all the time,I mean jeans and T-shirt kind of casual, coz I work as a building contractor and I am on site all the time Plus I am 28 years old so I don't think i will pull off a dress watch. But I am starting to feel that I need a cha...

may i humbly suggest the regular Royal Oak, not the Offshore?

 By: Hororgasm : November 1st, 2011-12:10
or maybe a Panerai? bracelet or leather or rubber strap? practical considerations to be had. best, Horo

Your more than welcome

 By: beejo : November 1st, 2011-12:29
I meant the regular not the off shore. What model of the panerai do u suggest? 249

i have the 249, which is 47mm Radiomir

 By: Hororgasm : November 1st, 2011-12:33
but i suspect a 44mm Luminor will suit you better. alternatively, have a look around some A series or even Pre Vs....if you are swayed by tritium charm...that may be the way forward. best, Horo

Do panerai do in house movements?

 By: beejo : November 1st, 2011-12:38
Except this new rose gold watch.

That is what they claim.
