Bad experience with the Fifty Fathoms. The sapphire Chrystal came off in my swimming pool. Also, stopped working. After much consternation they gave me a new watch. Unbelievable but had same two issues with the second. Sold it Mx hasn’t looked back.
Had 2 Fifty Fathoms. First one, bezel came completely off in the swimming pool. Not good for a dive watch. Sent. Ack to factory for repair. Got it back and happened again. They gave me a new one. Second Fifty Fathoms stopped running. Sent back for factory warranty repair. Got it back. Stopped again.
This is nuts. I have more watches in my safe than most people have pairs of shoes......One Patek 5980, Rolex GMT II, Rolex Sub, Blancpain FF, RGM 801 E, GP 1945 XXL Chrono, Heuer Monaco Cal 11, and a vintage Elgin B.W. Raymond wristwatch (vintage). So, what do I wear 75% of the time?? My GS, SBGM 02
Lucky to own a blue dialed 5980. I tend to keep it in the safe for special occasions. Once actually talked myself into trading it to my AD for another Patek. Once I completed the trade, I had nightmares about it....finally called my AD back and asked to "undo" the trade. Fortunately they are a great
I actually owned a P1800 station wagon. Very cool looking car but it was a nightmare keeping it running. Finally sold it to a guy who loves tinkering with old Volvos. Sorry Forbes, think you got this one wrong.
