Patek Phillipe 5316P 2023 Version.

 By: amanico : April 15th, 2023-16:39
The only Patek which caught my interest, this year, with its darkened transparent dial. Minute repeater, Retrograde Perpetual Calendar, and Tourbillon on the Back. These are the ingredients. The sublime back, with its Cal R TO 27 PS QR. The proportions ar...

This PP is so spectacular.

A dream watch, for sure. I don't play the lottery, but maybe I should start. This 5316 and the 5531 world time minute repeater are the best PP releases by far this year. ...

Thanks

.. and for the additional photos.

"In-catalog releases..."

Meaning the Rare Handcraft pieces are excluded from that assessment?

I figured :)

Very cool modern looking patek

 By: TeutonicCarFan : April 15th, 2023-17:00
Clearly all the underlying horology anyone could every want. For me I can't stand this (and all similar patek retrograde PC displays) where the leap year eats into the retrograde hand. Made worse by the framing around the leap year on this model. This is ...

Could the leap year indicator be moved to the back of the watch ?

 By: Jp75 : April 15th, 2023-19:58
after all, when I the watch is set, few people wonder if today is the second or third year until next leap year? What do you think and has it been done? wasn’t it like that with a Moser, if I recall? Jerome

True, true!

 By: amanico : April 15th, 2023-20:20

Good point

 By: TeutonicCarFan : April 16th, 2023-02:58
There are some watches with it on the back.. only needed for setting. I do think there is some desire for a leap year indicator - showing a watch is perpetual, not annual. Obviously a watch at this price and level of horlogy you either know what it is or ...

+1

That's the post

Very nice for sure,

 By: RabidManatee : April 15th, 2023-17:20
but I’m going to have one HECK of a year before something like that is up for consideration. Oh well.

Most probably!

Correct. I edited.

 By: amanico : April 15th, 2023-20:20

It would be nice if Patek could figure out how to not obscure the 15 and 17...

 By: mdg : April 15th, 2023-18:16
...one way would be to move the logo to where 'Tourbillon' is now. Or put the logo on the case back. The guy who paid a million dollars knows who made it : )

Many thanks for sharing this gem Nico, definitely among Patek's most interesting recent releases, which is deservedly receiving lots of attention from collectors! ;-) A perfect mix of great, classical watchmaking with a fresh and innovative design.

This specific reference is perhaps the most remarkable example of the current efforts to modernize Patek's offering....while remaining faithful to its DNA and unmatched quality, at all levels of our catalog! PS: Even if I'm the local moderator, I leave yo...

Thank you, Nico.

Indeed a dream watch beyond reach, just like Mona Lisa.

Naaah! :-)))

 By: FabR : April 16th, 2023-21:33

The dial is reminiscent

 By: shafran : April 16th, 2023-08:57
Of a tonda centum graphite ...

thanks for the pics but dial too busy, tourbillon on the back

and wll to sum it up the price kills it too. But even if money was not object would be an easy pass for me.

PP get modern....

avant-garde for a Phillipe with the see through dial

Dream or reality? ;)

 By: amanico : April 20th, 2023-10:28

 By: amanico : April 20th, 2023-18:59

Actually, it's not that "I think", it's more like "IT IS a dream" 😅

Real grail, unattainable 🥹

I think that there is fun at that level too...

This is indeed a grail...

I pressed my nose on the window in Geneva. It looks indeed gorgeous and for me it replaces my so far grail, the 5208R. Only thing which would have to be checked is the sound. The 5208R has magnificent sound with the rose gold case and this P might have wo...
