Let's come back to Sarpaneva. I have a question.

 By: foversta : January 5th, 2010-13:55
Sarpaneva watches are very well known for their moonphases. But I also appreciate a lot the new K1 which is, for me, easier to wear on a daily basis. The very special design, their own personality make the Sarpaneva watches very attractive. Caliber used i...

It's very nice ...

 By: bimbeano : January 5th, 2010-14:35
FX !! It's very nice without the moon ... BUT .... i would prefer with the moon, gives the watch that much more .... and to me Sarpaneva watches are associated with this special moonphase-indication. Just my opinion ... Greetings, Filip

Echoing Le Bim

 By: patrick_y : January 5th, 2010-16:31
I must admit; I have about the same thoughts as Le Bim (how unoriginal of me). Sarpaneva's icon is the moonphase. Personally, I would prefer the moonphase version. Thus, if I were to take the plunge, I would only consider acquiring the watch with the moon...

Very strong without the moon

 By: amerix : January 5th, 2010-17:24
although the moon-phase wins out in three out of four situations for me. As for getting around and about in the streets of a dirty, gritty city, I prefer the "without". And it comes with a magically floating calender. In fact, I am wearing one right now. ...

Another vote for the moon ...

 By: AndrewD : January 5th, 2010-17:56
The Sarpaneva design is very strong and I mean this for the whole watch, case and all. But I too would support getting that unique moonphase. That way you get to sample all Stepan's design cues in the one piece. It would be a nice addition to your collect...

another take and view

 By: amerix : January 5th, 2010-18:42
The new models come with what used to be called a "sweeping", that is a central seconds hand. As a certified Accuracy Freak, that would drive me mentally overboard, because I would always be comparing the seconds with an atomic clock and the various posit...

Definitely the Moon.....

so much soul and beauty in that piece. I think Moon when I think Sarpaneva *CL

Gotta be a moon! [nt]

Moon! Moon! Moon!

I would try to go for the signature of each marque... Sarpaneva's moon is it's signature as with the grill dial.. so I vote for w/moon!

The one with the pink gold moon

The white gold moon is too pale for me. Gorgeous watches in general. GEO

Again a vote for the moon! [nt]

Sorry to be the Party Crasher, here

 By: amanico : January 5th, 2010-23:06
But I wouldn't take the plunge... Let's say it this way. At less than half the price tag, maybe I would consider it, and if I had to take the plunge, I would go on the Moon, because this is all the interest of this watch, to have put the Moon in Jail. Why...

Nicholas, if you compare prices of other independents...

 By: Z3 : January 5th, 2010-23:54
...then actually Sarpaneva's creations aren't unreasonable. I like the Koronas very much (I personally own a K3 DLC w/ Rose Gold moon, will post photos soon). The movement might not be innovative, but the innovation lies in the designs and construction of...

Industrial looking

 By: amanico : January 6th, 2010-00:03
Compared to other Independants Creations, that is maybe what bothers me with the Sarpaneva... I much prefer paying the double and get a PSM, for example, which is, once again, to me, more representative on the Independants Creations. BUT, as you pointed i...

True, it is a matter of taste.

 By: Z3 : January 6th, 2010-00:17
Especially when it comes to independent creations, where designs and pricing are more liberal, and where there are colorful personalities involved. Things tend to get emotional in these situations. So I guess, just buy what you love=) Jon

May I ask what's the price range.....

 By: CL : January 6th, 2010-06:38
we are talking about here? I'm just curious. I love the Moon in RG but never know at what price range these watches are. Cheers, CL

to moon or not to moon!

 By: aldossari_faisal : January 5th, 2010-23:22
well with moon for sure, but still i admit BOTH of them are watches from another world with highy standerds. Faisal

Moon -

generically for me anyway and in this case especially. Best Andreas

I would shoot for the moon!

 By: Z3 : January 6th, 2010-00:08
... as the moonphase is a design element that is NOT ONLY iconic, but also quite intriguing and very beautifully crafted, in my opinion. But I can also understand the choice for K1 - it's more discreet, the date function might be more useful for daily use...

Great looking watch Alex!

Is this a 40mm? The pink case with the grey dial woks beautifully. GEO

For me personally...

 By: dxboon : January 6th, 2010-00:32
...the absolute essence of a Sarpaneva watch is the distinctive moonphase with its air of melancholy. I love the pensive, stillness of Sarpaneva's man in the moon. It's really quite lovely. Good luck in your decision making. Cheers, Daos

as usual i'm going to be totally different.......no moon for me

 By: G99 : January 6th, 2010-02:03
i think that his moonphase complication is one of the most fun ones out there, but for me a moonphase is a difficult to keep accurate function. unless you wear the watch everyday or keep it on a winder it takes an age to work out the moonphase and set it ...

The sectioned radial dial design is complemented by the rotating . . .

 By: Dr No : January 6th, 2010-10:24
. . . moonphase indicator, which lends a sense of purpose to the design as the action is visible. The static date aperture doesn't convey the same sense of liveliness, imho . . . cordially, Art

Thanks a lot for all your answers !

Sarpaneva watches bring a lot of comments which is good for the brand, it is the proof that it has now a very interesting location in the landscape. The true question at the end is: what is the amount of money you are willing to pay to get a watch which k...

Loaded Question

 By: big daddy : January 7th, 2010-15:02
Because of my new acquition, I would definitely go with the moonphase which denotes the "full moon" for I believe it has now become a Sarpaneva signature. After visiting Stepen this past summer and seeing all the watches set out for my inspection, I was d...
