A small beauty: Longines 13 ZN Enamel.

May 23, 2014,14:06 PM

2 big assets: The enamel dial, amazingly deep and " rich ",  and the case / bezel.

The blue hands are complimenting the Watch in a very nice way, and bring this appreciable touch of life.

As every 13 ZNs, the movement is superb. One of the nicest in the vintage world , in my opinion.

Now, I am not very fan of these short lugs, to say all. The case, which is 35 mm " big ", is a tad small.

I can't imagine how mad I would have been if the lugs were much longer and if the case had 2 extra millimeters!

Here are the photos:

... what a beauty my dear Nicolas! I know it would be nicer with longer lugs, but it would make me very happy just "as is"!! Lol! Thanks for sharing my friend, and have a great week end! Afectuosamente, Abel.

Well... you have no choice but to go after this one!...

Looks to be in lovely condition too. You know me and enamel dials... Top watch and that caliber is superb. Cheers, Tim

I have the strange feeling that it will not take you too long before adding a Longines

The enamel dial, case design, movement and blued hands won me over. Agree it is a tad small although for someone with my small wrist it is ok I think. Any modern homage versions from Longines, Nico? Thanks for the post! Cheers Robin

The only Longines Homage I have is the Legend Diver.

And I fear it will be the only one... Thanks for looking, my friend. Nicolas

Will it never end?

You find the best stuff! Felicitations!

Agreed mon ami...should've been 2-3 mm bigger

 By: Mr.Gatsby : May 23rd, 2014-21:53
A little too small for an ideal chrono so a bit of a waste..

That is a treasure to be left fro the future....

.. great find, mon ami! Ken

13 ZN + Enamel dial is...

 By: tudorctin : May 23rd, 2014-22:38
The perfect combination. I understand your wish to be 2-3 mm larger but sometimes you need to compromise... I like it a lot. Regards, Constantin

That is true, but I already have my perfect 13 ZN in mind.

So, I pass on anything else I see, till I find mine... It can take time, but perseverance is always rewarding! ;) Best, Nicolas.

Why should it be bigger?

 By: SteveW : May 24th, 2014-00:38
The case perfectly matches the size of the movement. The dial is clear and uncrowded and perfectly legible at this size. What's wrong with people, are they afraid their manhood would be suspect? I would never pass on such a beautiful watch simply because ...

I have nothing against small watches, Steve. I also wear 32 / 33 mm watches.

 By: amanico : May 24th, 2014-00:48
But you know, I am a bit curious guy when it comes to 13 ZNs... I am in the hunt for a certain 37 / 38 mm case, big pushers ( mushroom even better )... And the lugs are not my taste on this one. When I think 13 ZN, this is not this one which comes to my m...

Little jewel!

Thank you for sharing but 36 mm is where I draw a line :) Cheers D

Nice movement and nice case

Sorry to be a party spoiler but I 'd be much more reserved about the autenticity of the dial. Difficult to say from your picture tough. There is a certain lack of lustre generally and lack of depth of the sub-counters. Original transitional 13ZN with orig...

My photos are so so, but you are right. When it comes to uncommon watches...

Prudence is a platinum rule. Best, Ztirual. Nicolas.

What a nice & classic Chrono ! .. However, the issues..

 By: hs111 : May 24th, 2014-10:03
.. with the short lugs and overall size won't go away.. The other thing, which I would have to get used to, are these specific "classic" fonts on the dial, almost like Calligraphy. - for me almost a bit too much " Retro".. The enamel, and the " deux compt...

Only one disagreement -- 35mm is not too small!

 By: CaliforniaJed : May 25th, 2014-08:27
Gorgeous all the way around, Nicolas. Best, CaliforniaJed

If the lugs were much longer, yes, I would not have a problem.

 By: amanico : May 25th, 2014-09:21
Therefore, when it comes to 13 ZN, it is possible to find them with a bigger case. The size is generally not a problem for me, as I own many watches which are between 33 to 37 mm, but when there is a bigger choice, with some nice dials, well, you know... ...

Magnificent timepiece....

 By: Darren : May 26th, 2014-19:38
but have to wonder - is that dial original? I feel like I see so many re-done vintage Longines chrono enamel dials that it's hard to know which are real and which have issues. This one looks right to me, but what do I know? Thanks for posting. Darren

That is the eternal question. I would have to remove it, to be sure.

 By: amanico : May 26th, 2014-22:07
Since it is not my Watch it is a bit difficult to ask its owner to do so... Best, Nicolas.

Maybe a future re-edition?

 By: Marcus Hanke : May 29th, 2014-15:32
Longines is launching so many re-editions, so this one, but also with an enamel dial, would indeed be gorgeous! Oh, I forgot: and a date-window is a must!!!!! Marcus

Beautiful chronograph!

 By: lhk1 : June 14th, 2014-02:06
13 ZN is as beautiful as Venus movement. Plus enamel dial, what can I say? In this case, small size does not really matter. Regards Ling

Nicolas, I am back.
