Some Longines Diver Love.

Sep 18, 2014,00:56 AM

It has been written thousands of times,  The Longines Legend Diver is a Community Watch.

Many of us fell for it. With reason.

After all, this is one of the rare modern Longines which is faithful to the original, splendid, well made, with a gorgeous dial, and for  once, the automatic movement is not a treason to the vintage, which was automatic, too.

So, many of us have the pleasure to own the Tribute...

But how many of us do also have the vintage?

This one is on my wrist since the beginning of this week, and I must say that I am thrilled like the first day.

As a huge lover of the Super Compressor Case, I own three of them. The Longines, naturally, but also the Universal Genève Polerouter Sub, and the Jaeger Lecoultre Polaris. 4, I should say, as I have the two versions of the Polaris, the 65 and 68.

To me, these are the 4 most desirable Super Compressor watches, even if I could also ( if I had them ), include the Benrus, the Bulova and the Droz.

But, back to the topic, this Longines Diver is really something to admire and love.

Are you tempted by the modern / vintage Duo?

Best,

Nicolas

great watch you have there! I love them. Is yours the first reference (7042) or one of the later ones? The first references (7042-1) are increasingly difficult to find..

7150-2 from 1964... My beloved year. ;) [nt]

I am running after one for a too long time, I guess... You are ABSOLUTELY correct, so correct that I would put it in the top 4. Best, Z. Nicolas

I am surely tempted by the duo dear Nicolas...

... but regrettably never have seen a vintage one down here. I already got the modern version, but be assured I will not let pass a vintage one if it ever crosses Dexter´s path! Beautiful example you got there my friend! With a lovely patinated dial! I´m ...

Hot Damn do I love the no date tribute

And I will maybe wear the Re Edition, this week end, to change a bit. ;) Best, Nicolas.

of course the vintage would be THE one, but the modern is without a doubt, the best re-edition by any manufacturer (although I hear Omega have recently released a nice modern Seamaster, based on vintage) Lovely photos, of lovely watches. Cheers Tony

These Vintages are real Candies !.. Strong personalities.. Superb line-up !.. :)

I have to say, that this Longines Diver Re-edition indeed looks nice, not to speak about your other marvels, of course. - They all have a sort of timeless self-presentation, a feature that just is there, sticks there.. Still, the two Polaris pieces are an...

The good think with the Re Edition of the Longines Diver is...

That it is a real bargain... It won't cost you a Tenth of a Kidney. Now, the problem might be to find one, without date. Not impossible, though. Aaah, Watch wallets.... ;) Best, Nicolas

If I've learned something, than this.. ;)) = :)))

.. Agree - its just from time to time, the rationale may be healthy, although not always makes you happy ! - But I guess, I'm starting to complain on a reasonably middle-high level !.. Thanks again, hs ;)

I agree, one of the nicest.....

...........two crown rehaut diver watches of that time. The dial is amazing, difficult to properly catch on photos. I got it with the origninal box, hang tags and guarantee booklet. ...

WOWOWOW!!! What a set! Now, that is something we RARELY see!

........and not talking of the Polaris. One of my few grails that I need to hunt down.
