And then there were three.... the latest Seiko 5 military

Mar 22, 2009,02:27 AM

I came across this today and I had to have one since I already have two. Unlike the earlier Seiko 5 military-style which is a measly 36 mm in diameter, shown in beige and black in the photos, the latest version is a whopping (for Seiko) 42 mm wide with 22 mm lugs; it is the green dial. And at the equivalent of $95, it is eminently affordable. Like the earlier version, this is available with green, blue, black or beige dials.

Offset Crown?

I've noticed that many of the Seiko 5's have the crown at 4 o'clock, any idea why? A

Though I have no idea why they do it. On divers it makes a lot of sense as it keeps the crown from digging into your wrist. Otherwise, I think it's just styling. The only differences in the movements for crown at 3 and crown at 4 are day/date wheels.

Nice catch, SJX!

Will you be switching out the current strap for a leather one to match the other two Seikos in your post?  One of my favorite things about my Seiko 5, which I also notice on yours, is that the calendar displays Sunday in red typeface, as opposed to the bl...

I love the beige face/brown strap combo. Did you purchase that as is or add the strap later on? If the latter, where can I get both!

I bought the strap later

I can't remember where I got the strap though. PM me if you need a source for the watch. - SJX This message has been edited by SJX on 2010-03-24 21:33:29

Is this the same beige watch? The color in this photo looks a bit lighter than yours. Any idea if Seiko changed it with a new version?...

Yup that's the same watch. [nt]
