Parmigiani 2008 Novelties

This year I went to the Parmigiani Stand, at the SIHH...Without meeting, without nothing...
We, Jerome and me, were perfectly and warmly welcomed by the Pamrigiani Team, specially Liliane FRETTE, and Jacques REY, the French Team.

So they took the time to present us some new pieces, and some very nice recent ones...

1st, a new watch, the PERSHING

You have the choice between the LE, which are only in Rose Gold or Palladium ( 115 pieces each version, as it is called Chronograph one one five)

And the non limited edition, which is only in SS, with 4 different colors for the dial.

Parmigiani concluded a partnership with Pershing, the famous boat manufacturer.
Hence the name of this watch.
I estimate the diameter of this watch at 46mm.
It is really big, thick, very impressive.
The ovoid rubber chronograph push pieces are beautiful.
The design is interesting, well made, the dials are gorgeous, but you'd better have the wrist to go with this watch...
The movement is a cal 334, fully crafted ( even if I suspect that Parmigiani used a DD module for the chronograph complication, but not sure of that)

Then, another new watch, something very appealing and reasonnabily sized...The Kalpa Hemispheres.

Here is Rose Gold

And in SS:

Now that's a watch that speaks a lot to me...Esthetically, and mechanically.
You have the rare possibility to set, in an independant way, the home time, and the local time, AT THE PRECISION OF ONE MINUTE!
Each hour has its own crown.
You also have two night days indicators, one for the home time, the other for the local time.
As for the Pershing, you can choose one of the 4 colors available in the catalogue.
The movement is a Cal PF 337, automatic, entirely manufactured, with a Power Reserve of 50 hours.
I'm seriously considering to put it in my wish list!

I aslo had the pleasure to see some magnificient pieces, like the Famous Bugatti.
I have to confess that I totally underated this piece, thinking, 2 or 3 years ago that this watch was way too freakie.
This is just a gorgeous time keeper, and I was wrong.
I tried to take sme pics, but without light box, this is just impossible, as you have reflections everywhere.

Here's my poor try...

A watch which deserves more than 3 or 4 words and a bad pic...Maybe I will come back to it, and I'll ask Parmigiani to send me more informations about it...

Now, this one is one of my 2 or now ( with the Kalpa Hemispheres...) 3 Parmigiani Favourite watches...The Kalpagraph!

The movement here is the same than the one used for the Pershing ( Cal PF 334), the shape of the case is simply beautiful, and creme de la creme, you can choose your combo ( color of the dial / Material o the case: SS, Gold, or Palladium)

The dial is awesome, with a very nice presentation, and finish...On all the colors available, even if I prefer the Black, and the white one...

And wearing it is adopting it....
The Kalpagraph falls perefectly on the wrist.
Even if the size is quite important, the watch is light.

I'm definitely convinced, and now I can 100% say that this year, I'll add a Parmigiani in my collection!
Best.

I love the new Pershing

especially in the rose gold. I noticed that the dial layout on the RG is very differently from the SS version. The running second subdial is at 9 o'clock on the RG version, and it's at 3 o'clock on the SS version. Is it possible that they both have the same movement? Maybe the RG and Palladium LE have the Zenith El Primo movement that Parmigiani has used in the past in their chronographs. Would love to hear some more info on this.
Thanks,
George

Great report, thanks!

I saw this a bit late.

Yeah, the Kalpagraph is something else. I have the Palladium version and love it! It remains my favourite of all the Parmigiani offerings. But that new Pershing diver looks cool and it would be something else to attack the swimming pools with a Parmigiani next vacation instead of that old green Rolex Sub. Haha!

I have tried on the RG Kalpa Hemisphere which already simultaneously with SIHH arrived at my AD here in Hong Kong. It is also nice but not at all (in my humble opinion) the same design slam dunk as the Kalpagraph is. If you live in India and need your second time zone to be off by something and a half hour it is of course a very practical watch but not really necessary for my usage.

A pic? OK.
