Spotted: PuristS, An Investment Bank and TimeWerke

I've often wondered what those high-flying investment bankers and analysts do with their 'disposable income'.  Their stratospheric individual nett worth is the stuff of legend.

Those apocryphal tales of boozy lunches in the City with half-cases of Ch. Pomerol 1982 and Ch.Margaux 1983 or about 2 guys outbidding each other for a FP Journe Vagabondage and breaking the world record seem too fantastic to be true.

One day, I found myself the only non-bank employee at a little get-together surrounded by good men and women and their watches.

Surprisingly, I did not take any food pictures (for a WFED forum moderator, this is like the Pope NOT being Catholic smile)

But, when you see what these people wear as their 'go to work on a dress-down Friday' watches, you can see why.............

What time zone are we in?        Oh - it's half past beer!

Sorry - too much bubbly wine by now......camera set on macro lens

I think this guy likes FP Journe watches.

PARTY FAVOUR

The host arranged for everyone to get the latest issue of TimeWerke as a party gift.

I overheard more than one guest express great joy to receive it when they flicked through this massive reference magazine, spotting their favourite watches along the way.

The Patek Philippe enthusiasts soon spotted the reproduced discussions on PuristS Patek Philippe forum and the debate renewed at the GTG....the outcome was about the same as on the forum poll - between the Ref 5070 and 5980 : a draw!

CONCLUSION

Based on my observations and conversation, this sample of merchant bankers liked:

F.P. Journe

A.Lange and Sohne

Patek Philippe
