Fallen Man

By: cen@jkt (registered) Wednesday, May 14th, 2008 - Photo Nav: View All 5 photo(s)

I've once again proved to be a failure as a human being. No self control at all. I said to 2 moderators that i wouldn't buy any watch until July. Turn out that once I saw IT, I began to develop acute must-have-it-otherwise-I-can't-breath syndrome. My palms sweaty, throat dry, eyes blurry, and ears tingly. I was terribly shaken when my hand instinctively reached for my wallet.

I was agonising for 5 minutes, until I convince myself that I wasn't entirely guilty. Since I said the promise to that particular moderator that in a matter of few days published the picture and the price of this watch, I believe I was only half guilty. Remember that it takes 2 hands to clap.

So who are the other guilty part? Let me give you hints: he's young, but has a taste for conservative watches beyond his age. An articulate man with a baby face and an instinct of a killer. His name only consist of 3 words with no vowel at all.

For the other moderator, please understand that I'm only human. I can also fall into temptation. But from now on, I will try harder to refrain from going within 10m of any watch store.*

Notice for all other watch companies: For the price, nothing beats the massive size of this box. Take note ye all watches more expensive than this, be kiasu! And let the race for bigger boxes continue!!!**

I have been thinking of that very watch, as well as the one below. They offer truly outstanding value for money.

And will "probably" pick the retrograde.

cen@jkt

"Probably" means "buy it as soon as I get the chance" right?

By: gmhutton (registered) Thursday, May 15th, 2008

i too have fallen off the wagon having promised faithfully not to buy again until my MIH needs paying for in November, but yesterday i too bought a Longines and very retro it is too. a minute repeater pocketwatch conversion, the paupers way to owning a repeater. will post pics when it arrives.

so, Cen, as i cant see you have a need for the box can i have it smile

all the best and i'm sure the watch is eqally as nice

Graham

I think...

By: cen@jkt (registered) Thursday, May 15th, 2008

Longines made the box big to accomodate the book. I wonder whether they know that a thing called mini CD exist? smile

Watch companies must really use their sharp mind and design the watch containers (box, pouch, etc) that are more useful for users. DeBethune pouch shown by SJX is very attractive and useful.

As of now, I used the box to store other watches.

That's watch nuts nature....

By: BHK9 (registered) Thursday, May 15th, 2008

Hi there,

Its normal,i assure you its normal.

Go and visit your nearest watch doc he will tell you its normal and  precribe you with the normal vitamin"C".....lots of watch magazine and it will calm you down. Not the tranquilizer..LOLOLO.....

Every watch nuts has gone and must through this process of "unfaithfull promises",giving it to mother, wife, girl friends and etc....the usual words,"This is going to be my last and only one","i swear to god,i wont buy anymore","I do not have any Money for anything more" and etc.....then it counters with these phrases,

"Its a limited one","The retailers gives crazy discount in ordere to clear stock","this one is too stupid to let it pass","I waited for this piece for so long and at last it......",and lots more.LOLOLO.....

To conclude this, this is just a normal syndrome being one of us.

Thanks,by the way....Very nice looking Langines there!

By: gmhutton (registered) Thursday, May 15th, 2008

even if we fall of the wagon and buy 'just one more
watch' i bet none of us will spend as much as some 'celebrities'(read: moron's
with too much money) spend on drugs and booze. the added advantage we have is
that we can always sell it again if we run out of money. you cant do that with
most addictions.

this is an addiction that is GOOD FOR YOU!!
