I just got back home from the Los Angeles, CA Perpetually Purists 2009 event held at Tokyo Table Restaurant in Beverly Hills, CA:
The event was a lot of fun and it was great to meet fellow PuristS from the Los Angeles area. We even had AV fly in from Atlanta, GA to join us for the festivities. DRMW arranged a semi-private room along with a delicious pre-fixe menu:
There were some really cool watches. AnthonyT and carlfa brought along their RM-011's (one in titanium and the other in WG). Here's a wrist shot:
And table shots of the RM-011's:
DrNo brought his GO Senator Perpetual Calendar:
On carlfa's other wrist was a JLC Master 8 Days Perpetual:
We had two long tables and I didn't have an opportunity to check out the wrists of the second table. But there were some other nice watches, like this PAM 233:
A Roger Dubuis Easy Diver Chronoexcel:
And a Montblanc chrono in tantalum:
Here's a pic of our menu. The courses were all served family style:
Dinner started a little late due to heavy traffic on La Cienega Blvd. So while waiting for everyone to arrive we ordered some Nagoya style peppered chicken wings. These were excellent:
For the appetizers, we started with a bowl of edamame:
Then the crispy calamari salad:
The mochi cheese gratin:
Spicy tuna summer rolls:
And the sushi pizza:
Our main entrees were the rainbow rolls:
And seared albacore tuna on crispy rice:
Beef tataki with balsamic sushi rice:
Garlic tuna with home made ponzu sauce. Presentation was cool, our waiter brought out a heated stone grill:
Then placed fresh slices of garlic marinated tuna:
And chopped white onions onto the sizzling stone:
We all watched the tuna being seared. The ponzu sauce was very good:
Grilled rib-eye steak:
And a extra order of karaage fried chicken:
For dessert, we had the Tokyo Table famous honey toast:
And the baked banana flambe with vanilla ice cream. It was served tableside as a flambe:
Thanks to DrNo, AnthonyT, and DRMW for organizing another fantastic PuristSPro event!
Regards,
