My job is very pedestrian, MTF.
In fact, I can openly wear Pateks to work and nobody would look at it twice. Not because Pateks are pedestrian to my colleagues, but because they don't know the difference between a Patek and a Casio!!
With the exception of my Rolex Datejust, everything I own is rather low profile, nothing too blingy.
That's my own personal preference, of course.
I wouldn't care less if my colleagues think my ROO is a G-shock. I wouldn't take offence since horology is not their thing.
The knowing glances of approval and comraderie from fellow collectors, on the other hand, is something entirely different.
I should take a picture of that purple shirt, yellow tie combo, It's not as loud as you might think. It is work wearable and no, I didn't swipe it from the Joker's closet!
