Slave to Fashion

More and more, I find myself buying clothes to match my watch collection.

I remember how I used to slap on a pair of jeans and a T without giving any thought to how I looked and walking out the door. Now I am quite conscious as to which watch I pair my wardrobe with.

How did I end up like this?!

Here are some of my favourite pairings to work:

Dark red shirt, yellow patterned tie, beige trousers, Bally shoes paired with Bvlgari Calibro 303.

I like how the bronze coloured minute and hour chronograph dials warm the dial up.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here's the same combo but with the PP Aquanaut.

This combo gives it a warmer, casual-formal touch, doesn't it?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Orange shirt, Vivian Westwood tie, beige trousers, light brown Gucci's paired with Bvlgari Calibro 303 / PP Aquanaut / AP Royal Oak in white.

I do admit the Aquanaut may be a bit too much in this combination. The white Royal Oak is probably a better choice.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Black shirt, light coloured Gucci tie, beige trousers, black calf leather a. testoni monk straps paired with Rolex GMT Master II / Bvlgari Calibro 303 / AP Royal Oak in white / PP Nautilus Moonphase.

I usually go with either the Nautilus or the white Royal Oak in this scenario.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For weekend wear, I've got a bit more choices:

My beloved Audemars Piguet QE II Cup polo shirt, jeans, LV two tone leather sneakers paired with a PP Aquanaut.

Tried on the Tantalum QE IIā€¦and promptly returned it! I much prefer something light, much lighter, like the PP Aquanaut.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

White cotton shirt, rolled up at sleeves, jeans, black alligator Prada loafers paired with AP Navy ROO / PP Nautilus Moonphase.

A classic combo. Comfortable and smart.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

T-shirt and button down shirt both by Armani Collezioni, jeans paired with AP Navy ROO.

Nice but I feel like a walking Armani billboard sometimes...

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Loose fitting linen shirt and trousers, brown Artioli loafers paired with PP Aquanaut.

Perfect for humid Hong Kong weather.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Soft cashmere long sleeved shirt by Cerruti 1881, jeans, paired with PP Nautilus Moonphase

Wish I had more opportunity to wear this combo more often.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lastly, this is one of my favourite all time combos:

Tight Armani Exchange navy blue T-shirt, jeans, Gucci sneakers paired with AP Navy ROO.

I just love how the white strip is continued from the collar and down the length of the T-shirt to be continued onto the sneakers. The ROO Navy is a perfect match as it continues this blue and white theme.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now I need some help pairing a purple shirt, yellow tie and dress shoes with a watch. Any suggestions?

It depends on what work and who you are

psychotic It depends on your job and where you are on the organisation chart. :-) This chap could wear anything and pull off sartorial elegance..... His watches can even be made from dinosaur poo, meteorites, volcanic ash, moon dust, and the same steel or...

A very fair and informative response

My job is very pedestrian, MTF. In fact, I can openly wear Pateks to work and nobody would look at it twice. Not because Pateks are pedestrian to my colleagues, but because they don't know the difference between a Patek and a Casio!! With the exception of...

There is a horological question of form and function

Salamanca, You questioned what is the horological merit of this thread. I think it is an appropriate discussion because watches today are considered by some to be "accessories that happen to tell time". I don't subscribe to this but in fairness, I have to...

Oh my gawd!

Are those cufflinks for the Patek Sky Moon?! *drool* Thanks for coming to my defence. And I do agree with your take that compared to our better halves, all we men have are watches and shoes to complement our daily wear. And I do have fun with all my timep...

I wonder if they throw in the cuff links for free?

If you can buy a Patek Philippe Sky Moon, do you think they throw in the cufflinks for free? :-) Should they? Regards, MTF PS. What did you think of the second lot of watch suggestions I gave?

Here is my suggestion

Change the name of HOrological MEandering "HOME" to WAtch MEandering "WAME".

I'll second that

Though I might be guilty of letting my wardrobe influence my decision if I'm sitting on the fence between 2 pieces. But good thing my love for blue-dialed watches match my usual habit of throwing on a comfortable pair of blue jeans and T.
