Octo Finissimo...something about this timepiece that makes it totally different from the rest I've seen till now !

Oct 07, 2023,19:14 PM

Panerai have been my only Big, Bold timepiece that I know which most of us love...given the military aura and simplicity, it deserves the love in deed.

Bvlgari Octo Finissimo is as Big & Bold but refined in design inspired by the Basilica of Maxentius architecture in Rome.

The build quality is rock solid and the bracelet is flexible yet gives a great fit on the wrist...gives the wearer feather light feeling !

the entry level one is straightforward simple on the dial, the case is 40mm x 5,15mm thickness, or should I say thin ?!....this automatic micro-rotor driven movement is 2,5 mm thin and has 60 hours PR.

personally this is my favorite version, I feel the monochromatic look is stunning - I have to admit, I changed my view of this timepiece after seeing one in metal.

this is a SS version comes in a dynamic blue (Bvlgari blue)...a tad flamboyant than the titanium version above.

This version totally took me by surprise...just few numbers that gives you an idea why I feel that way...

perpetual calendar at 5,8mm thinness...and the movement is 2,75mm thin !

I could only imagine how difficult it would be for the watchmaker to assemble and adjust the movement at this level of thinness !

The chronograph GMT version is a tad larger at 42mm case with the GMT reference at 3'o clock position activated by the pusher at 9'o clock.

Chronograph is activated by dual pushers at 2'o clock and 4'o clock position.

a minute repeater...of course one can't compare the sound with Patek but the clarity of the minute repeater is quite good and thanks to the thought out dial design, the cut-out indexes on the dial helps audibility.

movement is well finished given the challenge of managing it at 3,1 mm thinness.

a trio shot...of course a palm shot ;-)

and the final one but not something simple....

an 8 days PR manually wound timepiece with a less than 6mm case thickness....

on the wrist of 18 cm, you can see the fit below - this took me totally by surprise !

what do you think and which one is your favourite version ?

mahesh.,

Killer watches

I also think that, as great as the complications are, this watch still looks its best in the original matte time-only version!

I agree, the original matt finish monochromatic version is the one that I like too

what impressed me is complication without affecting the design idea of the timepiece...example Perpetual calendar with retrograde date but keeping the timepiece still thin !

In any metal or alloy they are manufactured. I wish even the steel versions were matte finished. I'm not asking the expensive sand blasted and rhodium plated finishing of the steel early models, just a basic brushed. That would be perfect. The shape speak...

A long waited Bulgari event

 By: Weems@8 : October 7th, 2023-20:42
Thank you very much Mahesh for the time you took to let us meet the Bulgari watches. As i skip the P brand, cause of an own reason, Bulgari gets my full credits. Maybe it’s Rome heritage and why i like the innovative way into an ancient old forum design. ...

I am in love with the ceramic version

I tried one on in the beautiful Bulgari boutique in Rome and I was stunned. The alluminum version is amazing because of the lightness and thinness, but my favorite has to be the ceramic.

For this watch I prefer a clean dial look. Therefore the "simple" time only but also the tourbillon are my favorites. Best, Gerard

I find the basic titanium model to be the most attractive, followed by the new skeleton in titanium. The LEs which have been done on the basic titanium are also very appealing. My favourite being this one, the design for which is from our forum member Mo ...

I'm impartial and vote the Skeleton 8 day.

IMHO I daresay it holds its own against the AP 15305/15407 with its unique thinness and well thought out architecture, but it doesn't come with baggage of AD games and heavy overpricing on the secondary market
