I am indeed surprised by this mechanical watch.

Kong,

I may buy it for my son - his first mechanical watch.

For that price, it wont be so painful if he lost it in school.

Impressive SWATCH SISTEM51 - Review and pictures

 By: Kong : February 23rd, 2014-03:57
When something is good, need not too many words. The latest SWATCH SISTEM51, is a work of art - the art of simplicity. With just 51 components in 5 modules , a 3-Hertz automatic movement with a stunning 90 hours of power reserve! Pure distillation. Simply...

Why does the minutes jump when the crown is depressed? Is there..

 By: Ronald Held : February 23rd, 2014-05:49
a manual that goes with the watch?

No manual ...

 By: Kong : February 23rd, 2014-07:43
Hi Ronald No manual with mine purchased from Zurich airport. The minute hand tend to move as there is a little play. Kong

Yea I can't wait to get one too

It's beautiful...I hope they do a aluminum version too.

Aluminium version will be ...

cool! Chrome Heart stuff :-) Last I heard SG should be getting in April, but at a last week event, heard from other is June. Have you aimed for the colour or get all four ? :-) Kong

All except the white

 By: Cookies : February 23rd, 2014-08:19
I bet a lot of forumers will get all. I will get the red one...maybe blue as well. If they do a scuba version it will be wicked.

Red :-)

 By: Kong : February 23rd, 2014-08:30
I know many here in SG bought red as it is their auspicious colour this year :-) and a handful who bought all 4. The white is quite hip, quite good match for those carrying white mobiles :-) I am not surprised this movement could be housed in any casing s...

No date version?

 By: secretlife : February 23rd, 2014-10:02
Wish they made it a no-date and called it System 48... not that I don't still want the blue and red one though! (",)

All for no date :-)

 By: Kong : February 23rd, 2014-21:45
However, their target market is across large-base, may not be a good idea for them. Anything is possible. Wow...48...they will need to remove 3 components, perhaps a manual-winding :-) Number 51 is a significant number to Swatch, sort of a lucky number. N...

looks good

Hi Looks good. Thanks for the run through. Hadn't registered that it had a peripheral rotor - will be interesting to see one, when they finally arrive in the UK. Cheers JML

So close yet so far ...

 By: Kong : February 23rd, 2014-21:51
Hi JML Thanks for viewing. The bi-directional rotor is pretty well-balanced, a slight movement, it will spin a couple of rounds. Guess it needs the efficiency to keep barrel full. Strangely it takes Swatch a long time to launch in UK. Here the people, sim...

I am indeed surprised by this mechanical watch.

Good idea ...

to get for your son with this watch into the mechanical watch world. Soon he may ask why other watches have less than 90 hours power reserve :-) Hope he likes one of the four colours :-) Thanks for viewing. Kong

Kong, you know him well. He will ask.

 By: ling5hk : February 24th, 2014-00:08
Another problem, the sister will want one. And the mother will also want one To solve the problem, I will buy 4 together. Regards Ling

Quite good to have all ...

 By: Kong : February 24th, 2014-01:46
four. Can rotate colours among all of you every week :-) Kong

This will be the first mechanical watch for many kids, Ling

I hope your son enjoys it. Regards Andrew

Hi Andrew, I believe he will enjoy it.

In fact, I want to see how many class mates of his will be influenced by him to get one. Regards Ling

Your blue version is very nice Kong!

Thanks for sharing and the excellent owner's review! Cheers Robin

Blue ...

 By: Kong : February 24th, 2014-16:32
I prefer blue colour .. the black is not bad, but with a leather strap. For frequent wear, the rubber strap is better here if not in the air-con most of the time. It is a bit in diameter, otherwise, should be good for your kids :-) Kong

nice review Kong, but i must disagree on some things

 By: G99 : February 24th, 2014-08:51
firstly the rotor is not peripheral, it is simply transparent at the middle and is attached using the only screw in the centre of the movement. it looks peripheral and works well at looking funky, but it is made to deceive the eye. also i have had mine fo...

Waiting for you ...

 By: Kong : February 24th, 2014-16:19
I was wondering when you would chip in, G :-) Thanks for the correction on the term peripheral rotor. Corrected. I guess like all watches ( COSC certified) , it really depends on luck ... but my piece, is very consistent. My Seikos (not GS), do not have t...

i must persevere with it...

 By: G99 : February 25th, 2014-00:03
i must persevere with it Kong and take it off at night, that might sort the accuracy out. best G

Hmm...

 By: Kong : February 25th, 2014-07:52
that shouldn't be that way, by removing for the night. I placed mine, crown up and dial up, dial down... it is still good at + 4 to +5 sec/day. Really it is about luck, I guess... I don't have the press release, read somewhere the spec is +/- 7 second per...

its been -7 or more...

 By: G99 : February 25th, 2014-08:19
its been -7 or more consistantly worn 24 hours a day so i can improve it by taking it off and putting it dial up or crown up overnight. G

Doubt ...

 By: Kong : February 26th, 2014-21:06
it would change anything for the piece you are having. Not to assume, with your new experiment not wearing 24hr, any new observation? Mine, first 24h on wrist, still alright at +5 sec/day. G, enjoy your S51 as it is. Kong

i havent had a chance...

 By: G99 : February 26th, 2014-23:38
i havent had a chance to wear it again yet Kong. will update you when i do. best G

It has a decorated movement! When can we see a PuristSPro version?

 By: patrick_y : February 24th, 2014-09:23
Decorated with blue/black stripes. It's a cool watch Kong! When can we see a PuristSPro version?

Was quietly ...

 By: Kong : February 24th, 2014-16:24
thinking about it too, Patrick :-) For me, this could be one of the choices/candidates. However, I guess many would prefer metal to plastic piece. Were you writing with your fountain pen while viewing the pictures in this post? :-) Keep 'hand-writing'. Ko...
