Well, in Category #1, there was . . .

. . . a five month wait for an RGM 222 on account of . . . (drumroll) . . . a custom strap. Yes, I paid full boat for the watch in December, and didn't receive it until May. Never bonded with that one; part of the reason was the abominable gestation period.
That wasn't nearly as awful an experience as the irredeemably worthless crappy watch that was the bane of my existence for three agonizingly long years. Yup, 3+ years in Category #2. At least I got to wear the RGM. The IWC was cursed from the get-go.
There is a Category #3 for tornadoes. Perhaps I should be thankful there isn't one for watches.

for, as it turned out, my early Christmas present to me. So the timing of AP was actually rather nice. Picked it up yesterday. Haven't had any time posting a propper picture (so here comes an iPhone pic). It's an Audemars Piguet 15202ST. And I'm loving it...

And it got delayed so many times that at some point I didn't care anymore (still had the option saying 'no thank you' when it arrived). And let's face it, none of us would be watch-less during a wait like that anyway. Maybe the long wait will add somethin...

All from category one: 1) Omega Seamaster 300 Master 2) JLC Geophysic 3) IWC Aquatimer 2014 So far I'm happy to say that I was never being subject to any manufacture nightmare. Those three watches were acquired before they got released, based on that, tho...
10 years for half a watch

Ordered a watch in 2004 and paid 50% of price. End of 2014 coming up and no watch. Does half a watch paid count? ;) MTF
Ouch!

As we always said growing up - close only counts in tossing horseshoes and hand grenades. But half isn't even close. I'd say it doesn't count. But that's just me. Mike
2 seconds? ;) More seriously....

I never waited for a Watch after having paid it. I never paid then waited for a Watch. Yes, I ordered some, like the Sonata, for example, and had to wait, well, a good 9 months, but I didn't pay till the delivery of the Watch. Best, Nicolas

Several years ago, I purchased this beautiful golden Longines chronograph: The saleswoman was preparing it for me to wear immediately, and I was just about to give my credit card over the desk, when she pressed the chronographs's start pusher and said: "...
