Why I came, and why I stayed

Hello Friends,
I'm relatively new to the wonderful world of watches, having started to take focused interest only several years ago. As anyone new to a hobby and wanting to learn more, I turned to online resources. I registered with several of the bigger watch forums, as well as a few smaller ones.
What initially attracted me to PuristSPro was that it was a site almost entirely run and populated by individual collectors. This was important to me because as someone new to watches I wanted "clean" reviews, opinions without conflict of interest (as in, personal vs professional interests), and insight from people who actually loved their pastime and were here simply to share (not to pitch). Many other larger watch forums did not meet this preference of mine, as I found many of the posts and conversations inundated with highly subjective opinions, often from watch shop personnel or other industry professionals. Also, I live in Japan, and I was particularly interested in Seiko, and having Ken as a moderator was an additional pull for me.
What has kept me here is the community - PuristSPro has "the BBQ" factor; I feel I would enjoy grilling and drinking with basically everyone who uses this site. That's really important! This is a hobby, after all, and enjoying the people is as important to me as appreciating the actual content. Which, as it happens, is the second thing that has kept me here - the content is exceptional. This is exemplified by a recent series by Cazalea on his insights into watch collecting (he is also the other Seiko mod... lucky me!). So from the people to the content, being a Purist has been a great experience.
Thanks for the interesting topic!
Cheers,
Matt
