Montblanc: Montblanc aficionados - and those that like its looks

Basically it's for those that want the Montblanc look. The tech inside is last generation, as it doesn't have NFC or GPS, for example. Furthermore they haven't used the crown for all the purposes it could address on Android Wear 2.0, such as scrolling.

Montblanc: Dark screen

Screen functionality can be controlled from separate apps. It's an AMOLED display, and on these, usally the screen stays on until battery is below 15% or so. It dims down, though. IMO dark colored screens look better than light colored ones. Some watches have a dim function, whereby hands and number

Montblanc: Power reserve

Some Android Wear smartwatches, despite being more powerful computers than my first portable Windows PC in the mid 1990s, have up to 1 month power reserve for the time function. Most today can last 1,5-2 days, depending on usage. Go for a run, or a workout with GPS etc, or, on those watches having L

Montblanc: The redundancy cycle

I think you pinpoint an important aspect of smartwatches, they become redunant within a certain time frame. I'd say 2-3 years, not one. It's dependent on whether it they receive the software OS updates or not. So, they're consumables. The thing is, once gotten used to all the functionality, it's har

Independents: Mintiens design genius

Ressence's got such a graphical design. I love these watches. That guilloche dial is very, very attractive. The displayed movement as well.

Independents: Respect

I met Thomas Prescher @Baselworld in 2008. I have such respect and admiration for his trailblazing and rebellious attitude, bringing the multi axis tourbillons to the wrist. All the big brands are simply followers, in my book at least. Thank you, Darren, for posting.

Horological Meandering: Wow

I'm not much into DeBethune - too clinical and cold for me. I have to reevaluate what they stand for, though. This is fantastic, with the serpent and the little micro temples, textures, gold, symbolical. Wow, just wow.

Horological Meandering: So, so - ephemeral, time bound, fashion accessory with multiple roles to fulfil

I'm not particularly impressed by the design, although the materials and execution look nice, as in well made, well put together. It looks dated from the outset. A square screen with rounded edges. The quick disconnect straps enable the fashion accessory role of the Apple Watch as in buying several
