My "photo picks" for 2023...
Dec 30, 2023,11:12 AM
This year some of the images are from the archives that have been reposted in 2023 and a final "© guest photographer" that is one of my favs due to the execution and the memory. Enjoy and have a great start to the New Year.
01: 浅間山 (Mount Asama) is an active complex volcano in central Honshū. The volcano is the most active on the main island of Japan. It stands 2,568 meters above sea level on the border of Gunma and Nagano prefectures. Photo taken 30-Jan-2023
02: Every city has a 1,000 stories... From the archives 22-June-2020, reposted 10-Feb-2023
03: Karuizawa, Off-Season Macro... From the archives 27-Sep-2016, reposted 23-Feb-2023
04: b&w ≠ monochrome ... simply put, there's more to it and b&w photography tends to force one into the abstract - into rich texture, shapes, patterns, elements, repetitions, etc ... Nikon AI'ed Nikkor-H 2.8cm f/3.5 and Nikon F3P. From the archives, reposted 02-Mar-2023
05: Noah-kun - Canon 5D Mark II, 1/125 sec, f/5.6, ISO-1600, & FL-50mm. Photo taken 24-Mar-2023
06: Pinot-kun - Canon 5D Mark II, 1/100 sec, f/4.5, ISO-1600, & Sigma 50mm 1.4. Photo taken 30-Mar-2023
07: Castle Ruin Park, Komoro, Nagano Prefecture ... the mysterious growth is mistletoe. Fuji x100t as I wanted a lightweight cam. Photo taken 05-April-2023
08: Get a couple of photographers together and they snap photos of each other... here is one from Kabukichō (Shinjuku, Tokyo) using a Leica Monochrom... IMHO one of the best digital B&Ws I have seen, then again it's not the gear. From the archives Dec-2017 © Raul ("Echi"), all in all a very memorable portrait of the author.
Thanks for looking,
Casey
