So I bought this batch of 10 Seikos for $40

As I clicked "BUY IT NOW" I remembered a story from my friend Steve, when he bought an old Jaguar. He asked his dad's mechanic, who was sadly inspecting the car, "How could I go wrong for only $750?" I can't replicate the Mexican accent but as he walked around it, the mechanic said "You can go plenty wrong, my young friend. Plenty wrong."
I bought the watches anyway and in the first day actually got 6 running and lovely! Here are my two favorites:
They look very similar but the case shapes vary, the bracelets differ, the crystal on the green one is faceted. Both are automatics with day and date. One has 17 jewels and the other 21 jewels.
Blue got a dial cleaning and a new crystal.
and needed to have its hairspring cleaned, as it was running 2 hours a day fast.
Now happy.
Green got a good cleaning, a polish, and its bracelet buckle repaired.
Facets on the crystal sparkle as you walk. Can't easily be replaced though.
This one runs great AND it's a mechanical movement!
I need to clean the back of this. Sorry.
The following quartz watch has real yellow gold plating, not "gold tone" (but not solid gold, rats!)
Likewise gold plated.
Steel for working in the garden or around the house.
And I was able to revive a watch for myself, from bits and bobs in the watch box.
Various other projects underway.
An old sting ray strap that I love fits just fine.
And to top it off, I got a pair of NOS titanium Seiko eyeglass frames.
Coming soon to a face near you.
