The new IWC Portuguese Regulateur Tourbillon

Like the titanium Big Pilot , the IWC Portuguese Regulateur Tourbillon is a limited edition for Sincere Haute Horlogerie. Only 15 pieces will be made, all in rose gold. It is not a rejigged version of the existing Portguese tourbillon, the movement is a new calibre which is exclusively available in this watch as of now.

The movement decoration is a nod to the IWC pocket watch movements of old, just like the decoration in the F. A. Jones Portuguese. Usually I don't appreciate Geneva stripes in fancy patterns but this movement looks beautiful.

Many brands are opening their own boutiques and thus competing directly with retailers. But on the positive side many brands are collaborating with retailers to create unique limited editions - not just a dial change - which are unavailable elsewhere. This tourbillon is a perfect example of a fruitful collaboration.

I'm not very fan. The Portuguese is a fine watch to include a tourbillon in it, but in a regulateur???? Not very sure. In the Regulateurs range, I certainly prefer this one: This last one has a more classic and simple look, IMHO....

I agree

In my opinion ...

... the aesthetic design of the tourbillon cage does not justify its prominent display on the dial. Regards, Marcus

I deliberately left aside the quality aspect ....
