MPT: Longines

 By: AndrewD : October 24th, 2010-22:22
Daos has suggested a Longines thread, which is a superb place to start this Mega-Photo-Thread (MPT) series. Here is some company trivia to get us started: Longines was founded by Auguste Agassiz in 1832. Manufacture is still based in Saint-Imier, Switzerl...

The famous winged hourglass has graced many beautiful watches throughout the years. I think their watches from the 1930s-1960s were very appealing as a whole. Calibers like the 13 ZN and 30 CH power vintage chronographs to die for; watches like the Conque...

How I understand you, Sister.

I'm hunting MY 13 ZN... Big case ( 37 mm ), black dial if possible, big pushers or olive pushers... That would be the version of my dreams. Best, Nicolas

Dreams indeed.

i know what you mean Ubik. until 3 years ago i had a very large collection of military pieces and bought the Longines Majatek so had to have the Eterna and Lemania. then i had to have a Breitling from the same period, the Laco B-Uhr, Zenith from late 20's...

Longines are seductive

 By: Ubik : October 28th, 2010-08:35

Wow

 By: Ubik : October 28th, 2010-08:45
that sounds like an awesome collection. I have a military fascination as well, wish I'd seen it. As I move on in my collecting life, I can appreciate trading old desires for new. I'll certainly keep my eye on the wristscan section.

no Longines currently in my collection, but here are 2 of my favourites

Linbergh re-issue

 By: Ubik : October 28th, 2010-08:18
Longines have done a variety of Linbergh re-issues, this looks like one of them. Was it the large size?

Didn't measure it

 By: halkcb : October 28th, 2010-18:59
but i think it was about 34 to 36 cm-----not likely to be large size as we know it today
