Bags of monkey nuts and a billion monkies

SJX,

Thank you for an enjoyable read.

History is the truth as told by the survivors. As the "old guard" slip away, the stories will change with each generation.

It is fascinating that the communists were correct after all, about a capitalist rule. Selling a billion bags of peanuts at $1 a bag is a lot easier than 1000 diamonds worth $1,000,000 each. Ditto with black plastic (oops - I mean 'precious resin') pens smile  .

Remember that Montblanc was associated with the '4 limited editions a year' marketing play that made all the monkies buy the 4 pens a year they did not need. Imagine the history that a billion monkies armed with 4 pens each instead of typewriters could have written......?

By the way, I remember Rothmans, Peter Stuyversant, Cartier lighters and all  -  just for the record before my memory slips away.......

smile

For the very nice report, I was able many years ago to buy a Dupont Maharadja lighter, not Cartier, but had to think on it after reading this, always love all those history details. Cheers, Michel...

That's a beauty Michel

S. T. Dupont laque de Chine lighters are works of art in themselves and the "cling" heard when you open the lighter is famous. -SJX

Great read
