Assuming that this is a true peripheral rotor

Mar 22, 2009,10:05 AM

instead of a 'mystery' rotor with central transparent (crystal or plexiglass) portion, as they say, it may allow  more space at the back for modules and complications. But why? Not that many people are complaining that they don't want their modules on the dial side of the movement.

Even if the rotor is 'efficient' enough for regular achievement of 55h reserve, what is the advantage of having a backside to stick on more modules but have to engineer solutions to a fundamental rotor problem?  It can't be just to look at the finishing on the bridges because all those straight lines are not really artisanal.......

Would the cachet of having a 'true' peripheral rotor be enough to attract the regular customer?

This is not a comment on the engineering; I leave that to the experts.  I'm just asking a Regular Joe question.

Regards,

MTF

i see that this watch is all about the new movement and if it works it is a great advancement. a nice clean looking movement without the obstructive rotor. the fact that the first model is merely a day date doesnt matter to me. shame about the rubber beze...
