Fortis - Heroes Search 2008

Fortis embarked on the inaugural Fortis Heroes Search 2008 where entries are open for the public to nominate their own heroes in Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.

This is Fortis' initiative to acknowledge the extraordinary qualities of our everyday heroes and allow them to be recognised and celebrated.

5 chosen heroes who have displayed outstanding contributions to the betterment of others and society will receive a Fortis B-42 Flieger Chronograph each worth SGD $3,959, with the personalised engraving "FORTIS HERO 2008" on the back case of the watch.

Today, the Heroes of Singapore were announced at the Helipad Bar.

17:00 At the front entrance of Helipad...

Pressed the lift button, the steel door slided open....

A runway...to sashay down...

A bit too late, someone overtook me...what a surprise...lights up at every step taken! Novel!

At the end of the runway, turned left...greeted by this abstract structure.

Preparation still ongoing...

Stole a shot of the watches on display...why still use halogen lights....in a dim bar...

The setup....since not ready and still waiting for the rest of the press people to turn up...let's take a stroll. Towards the exit now...

Now the showcases were ready.....

This year new models ... all in the glass displays. Will be great if we can handle the pieces...

Max Peter's speech

Mark Quek explaining his company prefers to give back to the community then to advertise.

He also elaborated about the " Fortis Fund - the first of many future philanthropic projects between Citimex International and Fortis, marks the two groups' pioneer foray into an endeavour that works to benefit the community.

For 2008, the Fortis Fund will be used to provide youths with an Undergraduate Scholarship in Aerospace Engineering at Nanyang Technological University.

the Fortis Fund's main objectives are to present opportunities for aspiring youths interested in the fields of aerospace & aviation in education initiatives, trips or courses and to promote aerospace and aviation learning to youths to inspire them to take on occupations within the industry."

Prof Simon Yu gave a brief what his faculty intends to do with the funds.
