I agree with the other respondents

Watches that I actually see somewhat regularly on others wrists would be Rolex and the AP royal oak which are very recognizable IMO.  I think  the  Reverso, Hublot's King Power, Big Bang and Classic Fusion would be easily recognizable but I don't actually see them in my neck of the woods.  I think the RM tonneau case is quite distinct as well.  Others that come to mind include Panerai, GP's golden bridges, Patek's  Nautilus, Breguet classique case, even the UN marine/maxi marine case.  Some of these might just be noticeable to collectors but I think they all are quite distinct and recognizable.

Identity

I would like to hear from you which watches have the strongest 'identity' in your mind. A watch you would recognise anywhere without seeing the brand. A watch that is not a part of the amorphous horological landscape. Perhaps it the octagonal bezel of the...

Quickly flows to my mind are some: Tanks (various) of Cartier Pasha of Cartier Oysters of Rolex Reverso of Jaegar LeCoultre Pano line of Glashuette Original Royal Oak of Audemars Piquet Panerai Richard Mille and so on.....

That's a classic list

When you think of how many watches have been in the marketplace over the last few decades, this list is actually quite small. But I agree with every example. These are the classic designs that interestingly have also outlived many others. Thanks for the l...

Thanks for the list. The Breguet rolled coin edge and straight lugs is very characteristic, as is the Nautilus and RMH Tonneau cases. Andrew

It has to be Panerai.

It has a very strong ' identity' even from far. RO was strong but strong enough now because of Hublot. From a distance, I would have doubt whether it is a RO or Hublot. Unfortunately? Of course, watches from independents with odd shapes can easily be reco...
