Longines Legend Diver

Oct 29, 2018,06:11 AM

Was browsing for an Iconic diver watch and realized that Longines rolled out the PVD legend diver. Looks pretty decent, but I always loved the stainless steel version without the date. Still regretting my stupid decision to walk out of the boutique without the watch many many donkey years ago.

Somehow, the date aperture takes away the vintage flavour and make the dial looks.........dull. Similar perception with Rolex submariner, where i find the 5513 a real classic, especially with a black & white Nato.

When i saw the PVD version, I feel watch looked overly “modern”. Too modern to be called a “Legend”.

But then again, this PVD version does give the Legendary model a new dimension....new watch case material variation. With the trend of bronze diver watch case on the rise, I thought a bronze version of the Legend Diver, without the date aperture, would probably look good.

The Tudor bronze Black Bay, looks fantastic with the brown dial coupled with a vintage leather strap.

Similarly a bronze case Legend Diver, with no date, brown dial would probably make a deadly combination. Not forgetting a matching water proof strap that maintain the vintage feel.

Wonder if Longines will ever develop this dream that i have pictured in my head.

Well, another day in paradize.....

Mike, truth to be told, the only Legend Diver which took and still takes my heart is this one...

The PVD and a hypothetic Bronze would look too trendy, for me. And the presence of a date is a no go, once again for me. Best, Nicolas ...

Nice piece

I would personally love a bronze version but green dial!! ...

Never quite understood why Longines discontinued the no-date version...

It seems like they could sell many more of them if they brought it back. I don't hate the date version but the no-date is the one to own IMHO. And if misery loves company, I also walked out of a dealer without buying one several years ago and have regrett...

Tell me about it😩 [nt]
