Make your own way
Mar 24, 2015,00:12 AM
follow your nature and your passion.
I read a similar post at the very beginning of my journey. It advised about starting win small, humble pieces and powering up/ upgrading gradually etc.
I did just the opposite. That very first piece set the tone for the rest, even if most were minor or less important watches... I did not know then there would be a follow up and that imho is the best way to look at it. Always buy your last piece.
So do not take too seriously edicts and recommendations. Follow your way, take responsibility for your own misjudgements. Change and evolution of taste do happen. At least it happened to me and that's great. In fact it is quit unavoidable as one does not know much to start with, but that's all part of what is worth it. Discovering what makes one tick, discovering new watches, including/ especially vintage watches, a new universe every time and friends, really good friends.
Yeah, if you are ready to share and give, be prepared to make friends.
Really good friends far beyond the mere sphere of your horological passion.
So no real advice for me, just follow your own way... What you have in you or do not have will make the rest...
Best
