Update:

Apr 12, 2016,13:55 PM

A small update: Of course the money has not been returned, and I have alerted the authorities (luckily, I have many contacts with judges and prosecutors and PIs, so I think there will be movement on this front). I am still in contact with the person who scammed me, and I was contacted by another scammer here "PDK," with whom I exchanged emails. He even went so far as to put a fake serial number on Patek certificate (kudos for the photoshop). I was also contacted by another seller, who goes by the name "YER." Not sure if he's a scammer, but I got this email from "Special Agent Mark Lewis" email address: specialagentmarklewis @gmail .com. A++ for effort here. The email mentions all three of these sellers. I don't need to go into detail about the red flags here. There was also mention of an attachment of Mark Lewis' ID card, but the (clearly fake) ID card was for a "Special Agent Paulson Smith." I guess we can add impersonating a federal officer to the list of crimes.

Anyway, here is a copy of the email from "Special Agent Mark Lewis" :

HELP, I Got Scammed!

 By: Para-7 : April 7th, 2016-14:42
Hi All, I just got taken for $12k by a scammer in the collector's corner. This person had listed a Patek 5712 Tiffany and I contacted him/her, and found out the asking price was $29k, I asked for pictures and details. I was sent pictures of the full kit, ...

Sorry to hear about this...was this user big*****?

If yes, I had warned/emailed the mods about that user. First thing is to make this culprit public here. Second, report the activity to Financial Fraud Unit with your local police precinct ASAP and follow their instructions. You have the address and a/c in...

Yes it was that user

 By: Para-7 : April 7th, 2016-15:24
Thanks. That was my plan of action. The user is still in contact with me via email. I'm surprised the mods aren't more vigilant about scam posters. I've seen quite a few, but only the most obvious seem to be removed.

Really sorry. He/she also tried to F***** me with the same process for a 5712 Patek. He/she provided me some pictures but without serial numbers, gave me some recommendations. For you, the name used for the bank wire is "Diane L. Clark" so avoid!!!

I suggest in addition to the advice, you contact your bank also (you probably have done) to see if there is anything they can also do to reclaim the funds. The chances are they have gone out of this mystery account, but doesn't cost anything to try. Its t...

I usually don\'t deal with sellers in this manner and I don\'t normally end up dealing with people whom I can\'t verify on my own. I guess I was just distracted and ignored the signs because I was so blinded with lust for this piece. I have spoken with my...

Hope you find a way to resolve this but suspect the road is long. On a similar note, is it just me or are we seeing a dramatic increase in questionable ads here in the collectors market? In the last week there have been quite a few listings that are clear...
