Ironic contrivances is the very best of what can be said of these pieces. I've heard others call them morbid, but the butt of the morbidity (and the ironic 'joke') is the collector or buyer. I had dinner in May with one of the often praised independents so frequently discussed here, and his description catches my sentiment precisely: "Disgusting on all levels."

Are they for real, or is this some post-modern joke

On the watch world. Bernards post reminded me that although I've seen plenty of press releases, with the usual icky CAD renderings, I've never once seen a picture of a real, in the flesh, watch. Maybe RJ is just a joke on all of us...to be broadcast on th...

For me, it's a total waste of energy and of talent. First of all, I like the idea of the Cabestan and I like the ideas of J.F.Ruchonnet. Even if sometimes, his ideas are too ambitious, he's a fascinating guy. But now, let's talk about Romain Jérome. I hav...

Firstly, the Cabestan - Vianney's greatest creation to date. Then, Romaine Jérome - the Sex Pistols of horology. Finally, the product itself: a crusty old cash register of a watch...nevertheless, a marvel of creative engineering; a completely new way to d...
