...if 'these' posts changed (by which you presumably mean the off-colour component to which we have been referring), that would, frankly, be a most welcome relief, Bernard.
You are and have been a beacon for many. You are idiosyncratic, perhaps eccentric, certainly colourful, and all of that is very much to your credit. It is also terrific to read the observations of other 'lay' watch enthusiasts, especially prominent ones such as yourself, who 'get' and can enthuse about those elements of watchmaking which don't necessarily emanate solely from the technical merit or historical provenance of watches or brands.
But all of that is also to ignore the point, which (respectfully) has been artfully sidestepped in your response. Surely you don't mean to suggest that Franco Cologni would welcome or tolerate off-colour remarks in the hallowed halls or publications of the HHF, all because he thinks it is great for you to be 'you'?
You are right, of course, when you say that it would be great to think that everyone here can continue to get along as famously as we appear to manage to do. It's one of the distinguishing factors of this site, and for years you have been a major contributor to that spirit. For that to be the case, though, we all need to feel comfortable here, and comfortable that we are staying within (or straying only a fraction outside!) the generally accepted bounds of respectability. Again respectfully, (ignoring the brand support entirely) can you accept that the off-colour content in your original post would leave some readers distinctly uncomfortable? How can it be relevant, or right, to post that here - 'you' or not 'you'?
Thank you for accepting these observations in the spirit in which they are intended.
Cheers,
pplater.
