can also be beautiful, as Patek's calibre 23-300 demonstrated. You would of course lose the swansneck regulator as this has proven to be technically inferior to the free sprung arrangement utilized here:

another annoying detail is the excessively wide widths of the screw slots, apparently to accommodate larger and coarser screwdriver blades. and I'm not sure the current aesthetic sensibilities would be interested in producing such a design. The font chosen for the current movement engraving is an example. Could be considered "modern" to some eyes but remains unattractive in my view.
