My prejudice was challenged...and..........
Apr 16, 2014,02:16 AM
I lost Really, my "prejudice" is mainly about the size, I have preferences yes, but no prejudices beside the size. My "philosophy" is and has always been, never buy a watch I wouldn't love to wear, no matter the brand, the metal etc. One criteria, so I thought, was nothing below 35-36mm and nothing above 39-40mm.
The smallest watch I have is a "gem", a real "jewel" and is 36mm in diametre, the "Les Historiques Chronographe", I love it and wear it often. The largest watch I "had" until recently, I still have it it mind you, is 40mm in diametre, the "GP a Rattrapante Foudroyante", I love it and wear it often. This was going to be the largest.............but...
then I went for bigger and I am over the moon, absolutely delighted, content, charmed with my latest acquisition which is 42mm in diametre! All of 42mm? Far too big for me? Well, my prejudice fell like a castle of cards, the Duometre a Chronographe in white gold, black dial is a delight, a magic piece of horology, it has an "aura" a "life" of its own, the dial is to die for, so well thought of and finished, the mouvement's architecture is superb and the finish is quite nice, extremely pleasant. I love it and wear it...all the time
So, the Duometre's size challenged my prejudice and won and in the process I won too....big time
Cheers
