Not bad actually... A stark contrast...

The watches from Jacob & Co were formally favored by people who mostly couldn't afford them.

The hip hop music crowd, the gangsters, the drug dealers, the kid skipping school and lighting up a reefer etc. were the type who aspired to be a part of what they though were "that unattainable 1%" or untouchable jewelry.  Pardon the over-generalization, but that was one person's opinion at one point.  Oh, do any of these watches come with 22 inch chrome car wheels with spinners?

But these two pieces from Jacob & Co. bring real haute horlogerie interest to a brand that was devoid of anything haute.  As PuristS, we should applaud Jacob & Co. for their efforts.

The first one, the square watch with baguettes is truly something to behold, but my only criticism is the movement looks like something that's been done before.  It doesn't look overall "original" enough to me.

The second one is truly original.  And incredibly unique.

These two haute pieces are truly respectable.  BUT!  Together they fail to correlate with one another.  Meaning the two watches don't share any Jacob & Co. DNA.  Jacob & Co. is on their way, but they need to find their DNA, their differentiation to the market, and exploit it in a unique and meaningful design language that's consistent throughout the brand.

the Astronomia Tourbillon is seriously interesting stuff, and the Billionaire tastefully done. I know that the brand name does not inspire confidence amongst Purists, but both pieces, particularly the former, deserve a close look (and much more informatio...

As Ornatus-mundi noted in this thread, we should not be blinded by the diamonds or a name but I have issues with a 3rd side of the brand owner - Yakov (Jacob) Arabo: FBI charges of money laundering and conspiracy in connection with the Detroit-based Black...

Many entirely innocent people plead guilty to lesser charges either because they can't afford a defense or because they cannot risk the gigantic sentence sentence associated with an incorrect conviction on larger charges.
