The 3rd side of Jacob

As Ornatus-mundi noted in this thread, we should not be blinded by the diamonds or a name but I have issues with a 3rd side of the brand owner - Yakov (Jacob) Arabo: FBI charges of money laundering and conspiracy in connection with the Detroit-based Black Mafia family, as well as not declaring large cash purchases to the IRS.

The marvelous legal system in USA allows plea bargaining to secure swift conviction for lesser charges and turn evidence against other criminals, so that after admitting to lying to investigators, Arabo got off with the more serious charges of money-laundering being dropped. Arabo was sentenced to two and a half years in prison, fined $50,000, and ordered to forfeit $2 million to the U.S. government but did not serve the full term, being released from jail in 2010.

That taints more for the enjoyment of the brand that anything else.

MTF

Many entirely innocent people plead guilty to lesser charges either because they can't afford a defense or because they cannot risk the gigantic sentence sentence associated with an incorrect conviction on larger charges.

Not bad actually... A stark contrast...

The watches from Jacob & Co were formally favored by people who mostly couldn't afford them. The hip hop music crowd, the gangsters, the drug dealers, the kid skipping school and lighting up a reefer etc. were the type who aspired to be a part of what...
