 By: Ornatus-Mundi : May 8th, 2011-12:53
Dear All: This is a continuation of our previous post on Breitling ( click here ), and will focus on a brand for which we both have reserved a special place in our hearts: Blancpain . Blancpain always was one of the most anticipated dates of our annual ‘m...

 By: Ornatus-Mundi : May 8th, 2011-12:55
The Villeret line received significant attention this year. The most prominent are the Ref. 6660 & 6661 , called Demi Fuseau Horaire , as the successor of the 6260 – new movements, new dial and bigger case: The movement offers an interesting (and very pra...

Blancpain Basel 2011 - the Sports Collection (a new Aqualung!)!

 By: Ornatus-Mundi : May 8th, 2011-12:56
Let’s start the Sports collection featuring one of the current most popular watches from Blancpain, the Fifty Fathoms. There is a new member in the family and most of you will be familiar with its name: the Tribute 2011 Aqualung . Obviously it is a succes...

Deception. Interrogations. Doubts...

 By: amanico : May 8th, 2011-14:08
To say all and to kill any suspense, I don't get this last evolution. Not that the watch is ugly, as I really think it is a nice one, but to be honest, I don't see its interest. The demonstration by the pictures: 1/ The Vintage Aqualung: 2/ The FF 50Th An...

Blancpain Basel 2011 - the Le Brassus Collection (attention: adult!)!

 By: Ornatus-Mundi : May 8th, 2011-12:58
Le Brassus is the name of blancpain's top tier collection and was treated with a bit of 'moving here and shaking there' type of activities. Essentially, the signature Carrousel and the new Minute Repeater with cathedral gongs are mixed together with diffe...

Blancpain Basel 2011 - the L'Evolution Collection!

 By: Ornatus-Mundi : May 8th, 2011-13:07
The L’Evolution collection was meant to open a new, younger, more active clientele. Accordingly, the watches are ‘louder’ than the rest. We haven’t seen much, but what caught our attention was the new Ref. 0222 Carrousel Saphir Vol...

Blancpain Basel 2011 - the Specialities Collection!

 By: Ornatus-Mundi : May 8th, 2011-13:08
A new Specialities watch this year is the ‘Lambo’-inspired Ref. 560STC Flyback Chronograph . It’s a new iteration of the relatively new series of watches. Limited to 285 pieces and available for CHF 18’000. Note dial and rotor, can they be more appropriat...

This watch baffles me on every level

 By: Mostel : May 10th, 2011-15:37
Where is any Blancpain DNA? And what's with the teeny-weeny movement? But thank you as always for the pics and info, very much.

Truly "watch porn" has a new meaning.

Does it move as well?

Blancpain Basel 2011 - What to make out of this? Here we offer our conclusion!

 By: Ornatus-Mundi : May 8th, 2011-13:09
To be honest, as Blancpain connoisseurs we are a bit worried about the latest developments of the brand. We are still interested in what is coming as for both of us Blancpain represents an important milestone in our horological upbringing, and we have/had...

Superb work, Magnus and Oliver...

 By: amanico : May 8th, 2011-14:11
Like both of you, I have many interrogations on this 2011 Collection. I spent some time to answer to your FF post, and will come back to see the other novelties. Best, Nicolas.

Brilliant post, guys!

I especially like the fact that you guys are not sitting on the fence but clearly voice your opinion, your concern. I for one will be eagerly waiting for the next chapter

Thank you for the report.

Your presentation is an example of what makes this site great. Honest opinions, constructive and fair criticism without having to worry about your thoughts being suppressed by the manufacture. I agree with most of your conclusions. Other than having AquaL...

A couple of years ago I was a devoted BP fan and even when writing this, I'm wearing a BP Complete Calendar. But times have changed. I agree with nearly everything you are concluding. To me it looks very clear: Blancpain is trying to charge Patek prices w...

M & O, thank you so much for your contribution, you guys have been very thorough. I am quite concerned with prices adjustments (translate increases) that we see with Blancpain but also other brands. It seems to me that brands jacked prices up big time...

Swan song... Reality....

 By: MiniCooper : May 9th, 2011-13:29
First of all, thank you both Magnus & Oliver for a truly excellent report.... As I share your feelings about Blancpain, the change of times and Swan Song are not encouraging.... Henrik was right though that Blancpain had to evolve for the fear of fading.....
